Before and after...

I'm obliged to my blog-daddy, who asked for before and after pictures...

Well, here goes.

Before:

This picture was taken on my son's first birthday in February 2002. Notice the man-boobs. Lookin' good, Jay...

And after:
Not the best picture of me, recently, but given that I was trying to take a quick picture of myself using the timer on the camera, AND had to keep two rambunctious kids from DIVING into the shot at the last second, not too shabby.

That's what about losing 90 pounds looks like.

That, and this:

That's a size Medium shirt on top of a XXL. I'm shriiiinking!

I'm linking you. Welcome to my blogroll, on the post MArooned.

You'll be listed under FNG's for a month or so and Gunnies until I delete you.

That is what's known as (1) commitment; (2) dedication; (3) discipline. Man, I'm beyond impressed.

When I shaved my moustach and cut the dwindling pony-tail my wife said I lost ten years. Since the rest of the hair was mostly gone I let the circle of fringe remain but keep it close. Good-damn going man!!

You are my inspiration.

I've lost 33 lbs since January 1st.

88 more lbs to go before I reach my goal. I had committed to lose 52 lbs this year. I figured surely to hell 1 lb per week was doable.

I'm gonna make it with room to spare.

You inspired me. I owe you for that.

Buck, you've made my day.

fodder, thanks. You've been added as well, but I tend not to delete folks as a rule (unless they ask, of course). ;)

Ricky, hearing you say you're impressed means a lot to me. I have you to thank in no small part - your fitness updates at Toys helped to inspire me. The greatest inspiration for me, though, is my kids. Setting a good example for them is my raison d'etre...

dirtcrashr, I shaved my mustached and goatee when my weight went below 200 pounds (I posted on Toys in the Attic about going below 200, but don't think I mentioned shaving). It was the first time in 13 years that my chin and upper lip had seen daylight. My own mother didn't recognize me... Haven't had a ponytail since college, though (haven't had enough hair!)

buck, I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am for you!!! 33 pounds is awesome. What I found was that the first 20 pounds took the longest, and once my body got used to reduced intake (and got over the "oh my G-d I'm starving, shut down all metabolism" phase), the weight started coming off faster.

You don't owe me anything. Just knowing that I inspired you is plenty for me. :)

(FWIW, my oldest and dearest friend, my son's godfather, was also inspired by me. He's down 50 pounds since September. And my dad has started exercising again. That makes it so much MORE worthwhile!)

Good going; I'm still working on getting my weight down myself. Hope it's OK that I put your link at my blog.

Bobg, it's more than okay. Check today's post - you're on the 'roll now, too...

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the resemblance to Henry Rollins.

Y'know, that's a damn sight better than who I formerly resembled: Paul Prudhomme or Dom DeLuise... ;)

Just want to say a belated "congratulations".

That before and after picture is amazing. You don't look like the same person.

I'm guessing you're keeping it off and still practicing a healthful lifestyle.
