Confession is Good for the Soul...

I've been a bad gunnie. There. I said it. Not only have I not been to the range in over a month, I still haven't picked up my Buy A Gun Day gun. Oh, sure, there's the usual litany of excuses, busy time of year, trip to Florida, blah blah blah. It's just been so incredibly hectic the past month or so I haven't had a spare moment to breathe, let alone get to the range or the fun store...

That said, I'm still dithering about what I want to get. I've been driving the poor Gunblogger Conspiracy crew nuts with my constant barrage of posting "hey, whaddya think about this one". I was originally thinking about a .22 semi-automatic to complement my rimfire handguns; then the S&W M&P15-22 caught my eye; then the Kahr PM9; then... I'm still not certain what I really want, and I don't want to buy something simply for the sake of bringing something home.

There's not a lot that I "need", and far too much that I "want". Part of me thinks I should just wait it out - there's bound to be something shiny that comes on the market that I just can't live without. Another part says keep adding to the gun fund - I'm about halfway to an M1A right now, and if I could add one of those beauties to the G. armory I'd really have something there. The Kahr is MA-compliant, albeit hard to get ahold of, as are the Ruger Mark IIIs and S&W M&Ps that have tempted me thus far. If I'm going to break down and buy a new gun from a gun store, I want it to be something nice.

Getting to the range has got to become more of a priority. With the advance of the nice weather, it's both a blessing and a curse - it's light out longer, and warmer, and generally more pleasant overall for going to the range. However, the warmer weather is also generally hotter, buggier, and generally offers more distractions (like taking TheBoy for motorcycle rides...). We've got a shorter outdoor season in New England than elsewhere around the country, and it's a good idea to make the most of the warm, pleasant days. While that holds true for getting to the outdoor range, it also holds true for everything else in life - hence the juggling act...

However, there's simply no excuse for not getting to the range a couple times a month, and I intend to work on that post haste, as soon as I get back from Charlotte...

That is all.

Bonus points for being made in Illinois. Extra bonus points since it will likely be assembled by a friend of mine.

Don't worry about it. Something will catch your eye sooner or later.

I swing by the shops once a week to look, but nothing has grabbed me, either.

Lame excuses. I went shooting in the snow last month. It was fun!

The Kahr is a really really well-shooting gun for the size; I think it would be much kinder to your hand than the Snubbie From Hell. And it disappears nicely into a waistband. Gonna be a hot summer, you know!

I'm torn between an AR upper in 7.62X25, diito in 5.45X39, an MSAR, or a cominstion of the three... do many wants, so little money.
