Geek Cred...

Tam points out that today marks the 41st anniversary of the airing of "Star Trek."

So I just have to throw down my geek cred here.

1. I have an autographed copy of "I Am Spock."

2. My closest friend's cousin wrote an episode of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

3. I also have an autographed copy of "To The Stars", the autobiography of George Takei.

[edit to add]

4. How did I forget this one? I have my own bat'leth and d'k tahg. Pics forthcoming...

This post is useless without pictures of your Star Trek Christmas tree ornaments.

I bow in humble obeisance to your geek cred. I think I could dig up a beat-up copy of the original (bound with a plastic cover over cardboard--think three-ring binder only without the rings) Star Trek Technical Manual. Other than that, I got nothin'.

Jay... I still have my convention badge from the FIRST Star Trek convention ever held in January of 1972.

Beat that.

Bruce,

Tell you what. I'll post an update in November when we drag the tree and assorted ornaments out of the basement...

jetfxr69,

The funny part is that my buddy, the one whose cousin wrote for DS9, makes me look like an absolute piker when it comes to ST...

ross,

Considering that I was still soiling my own drawers in 1972, it'd be hard to beat that... :P

Yes Jay... you're more of a Star Trek geek than I am. But there are a LOT of geek types... ;)

Hmmmm, sounds like a challenge.

I raise you.....

1) Custom lightsabers for grooms presents for my wedding - combat capable and the blades strong enough to take a 32 calliber bullet. I'm the only bride ever left on the side of the dancefloor so her husband could have a saber fight.

2) Chainmail bikini. I'm a costumer. Don't judge.

Or would that all make me a nerd... not a geek? Cool site however it shakes out, I'll have to bookmark this to rummage around more.

jenna,

My wife's wedding present to me was a full, two-handed meter-long broadsword custom made by Starfire Swords out of NY. They liked the design so much they copied parts of it (the acorn quillion, frex) into their custom line.

Thanks for the kind words, and I'm not just saying that because my interest is piqued by "chainmail bikini"... ;)
