Mindset. Is. Key.

Everything else is a tool. The mind - especially your mindset - is the true weapon.

Woman, 83, thwarts would-be robber with pot of boiling water
An 83-year-old Houston woman has foiled a would-be robber by tossing a pot of boiling water on him.

McClendon, who's lived in her home more than 50 years, tells Houston television station KTRK she wasn't going to surrender. She fought off the intruder by grabbing a stick and tried to hit him.
And when that failed to dissuade the goblin, she grabbed a pot of boiling water off the stove and dumped it on him.

[Pauses for cheering to subside]

A gun is not a magic talisman. It is simply the most efficient tool with which one can defend one's self from outside aggression. If you lack the motivation to use that tool, you're far better off not having one. In this woman's case, anything else wasn't needed as her sheer octogenarian badassery was sufficient.

One of my favorite Cooperisms is "Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician." Truer words were never spoken. I can respect someone that won't own a firearm because they know in their heart that they could not use it. In fact, I'll give them credit more than someone that owns a firearm and isn't sure they could use it. It's one of the unpleasant truths in self-defense: If you ever need to fight for your life, are you prepared to do whatever it takes?

This woman, obvious, was prepared.

That is all.

Which Works Better?

Joseph in IL wants to point out that direct action works a hell of a lot better than "hashtag activism"...

Some in northeast Nigeria form vigilante groups
Villagers in an area of Nigeria where Boko Haram operates killed and arrested scores of the extremist Islamic militants that were suspected of planning to launch an attack, the residents and a security official said.

The attack on members of the group that holds hold hundreds of kidnapped schoolgirls comes amid the creation of vigilante groups that are resisting the Islamic uprising.

On Tuesday morning, after it learned of an impending attack by militants, a vigilante group in Kalabalge ambushed two trucks in which gunmen traveled, killing and arresting scores of them, a security official told The Associated Press.
[Pauses to let cheers die down]

You see, THAT gets results. Putting a pouty face on Twitter? Not so much. A pathetic "campaign" of celebrities holding signs about real men not buying girls? Doubtful. Shooting the bastards before they can kidnap, rape and kill? Now you're getting somewhere. There's a whole bunch of terrorist scumbags that will never harm a young child again.

Personally, I quote the late, great Jeff Cooper with regards to violence begetting violence:
"I would like very much to ensure—and in some cases I have—that any man who offers violence to his fellow citizen begets a whole lot more in return than he can enjoy.”
The only possible downside to this story is that we don't have video of the terrorist sh!theels getting their "come to Allah" moment when they rolled into the town thinking they were going to score some victims. Here they are, big bad Boko tango @$$holes, and it's just a little podunk town filled with meek little HOLY S**T WHERE DID THE MACHINE GUN FIRE COME FROM???

I'm gonna be humming "Thunderstruck" all day long now...

Ah, USS Missouri: How we say "F**k you and all your terrorist @$$hole buddies" from 24 miles away...

That is all.

At The Intersection of "Bad" and "Ass"...

Joseph in IL sent this in with the subject: 'MURICA! I thought of an alternate title: They were trying to emulate Matthew Allen...

Americans in Yemen shooting were getting haircuts
One of the two officers at the U.S. Embassy in Yemen who shot and killed a pair of suspected al-Qaida gunmen was getting a haircut at a barbershop when the attempted abduction took place, Yemeni security officials said Sunday.
Related Stories

The attempted kidnapping April 24 is the latest evidence of al-Qaida's expanding presence in the capital, a serious challenge to the authority of the already weak central government. It also could strain ties between Yemen and the U.S., which has launched an aggressive campaign of drone strikes against suspected al-Qaida fighters in the country.
So, basically, the local al-Quaida minor league team thought they'd scored a home run when they heard that there were Americans in town. They figured they'd swoop in, grab the gringos, then either have a nice ransom party or simply saw some heads off live on al-Jazeera TV.

Except that the Americans were smart, and took precautions, and when the tangoes burst in threatening everyone, they plugged 'em like John Wayne shooting a cattle rustler...

Yemeni officials questioned the two Americans and released them, allowing them to leave the country. One can only assume that the Americans were let go for fear their manliness would draw every single woman for miles, and in a few years Yemen would be overrun with strong-willed, badass American kids.

And I can't get this scene out of my head:

Well-played, gentlemen, well-played.

That is all.

Let Me Axe You A Question...

Fresh off the BLNN is this pretty awesome story...

Ax-throwing woman chases burglar from home, police say
A Southern California woman can throw a mean ax — and she used one to chase a burglar from her house, police said.

The woman called 911 on Saturday morning and said she'd been awakened by a man trying to remove her watch from her wrist, Hemet police said.
Apparently, the woman in question is a tomahawk-throwing champion, and grabbed a nearby tomahawk and chased the goblin out of the house. She refrained from actually throwing the tomahawk at the dude, which I surmise is better for her after all. I'm trying to figure out what kind of trouble this guy is going to be in once he gets to jail - it's not every day that you get thwarted by an axe-throwing champion...

The funny thing here - and I don't mean "ha-ha" funny - is that if this were [formerly] Great Britain, she'd be in trouble for chasing the goblin out of her house while armed. They'd get her for violating the crook's rights or something - or maybe just for having an "offensive" weapon. It's not enough to simply take away all the guns - they have to make sure that the serfs know their place and, as we say in Massachusetts, "discourage self-help."

On the other hand, you've got to figure that there's little more badass than defending your home with a tomahawk...

That is all.

Clanks When He Walks...

Giant brass ones on this dude...

Long Island Deli Worker Pulls Machete, Chases Away Armed Robber
A New York deli worker pulled a machete from under his counter and chased away an armed, masked gunman who fired a shot at the wall as he demanded money, police said.

Police on Long Island say the gunman entered the Stop & Shop Deli on Crooked Hill Road Sept. 25 and fired his silver .22-caliber pistol as he ordered the worker to stuff his Air Jordan backpack with cash.
The worker apparently chased the dude out of the store and through the parking lot. Armed with a machete. Against a gun. That's pretty impressive right there, I have to admit. Not many people would go on the offensive against a (marginally) superior weapon. I know I'd sure as hell be reluctant to take on someone armed with a gun if I only had a lawn care implement...

Here are the take-home messages as I see them:

1. People will not f**k with you if you are bugnuts f**king crazy.
2. The "just give them what they want" crowd can fold it until it's all corners and then cram it somewhere the sun doesn't shine. Someone threatens your life for any reason, even under the pretext of getting money that they didn't earn, you are justified in taking all actions possible to preserve your own life.
3. Guns are not magic talismans. Even though the robber fired a shot, which would indicate that the firearm was indeed real and loaded, the clerk still gave chase. The robber was not prepared to take a life in the commission of his crime, and it seems that he was relying on immediate subservience simply because he had a gun. When that failed, he panicked and went into full HOLY S**T mode.

I guess we finally know the proper caliber for robber - Cold Steel...

That is all.

The Tool Is Irrelevant...

BGM sends in this story that shows how mindset, not the tools one uses, makes the difference.

Baltimore County Break-In Turns Deadly
A break-in this morning in Essex turned deadly when one of the alleged suspects died from injuries sustained from getting in the head with what police say was 'a blunt object.'

Baltimore County Police responded around 1:25 a.m. Sunday to an apartment in the 1400 block of Strawflower Road.
Two men armed with guns broke in and started shooting. Rather than rolling over and dying, the homeowner grabbed "a blunt object" and proceeded to beat one of the men to death. The other dude took off running, which is a pretty sound tactical move when you've shot somebody and their response is not to die but to beat your friend to death.

He had a blunt object in a gunfight, and still came out ahead. That's pretty damn badass right there. Even if the two dudes only had .22s, that's still pretty damn tough. It really does go to show that the mindset is the key - rather than roll over and die, rather than meekly submit to being the victim, this dude got angry. I mean, plum crazy mean. He started swinging, took one guy out and scared the other guy away. That's a big win all the way around.

Unless, of course, you're an advocate for the ever-growing Nanny state and feel that self-help should be discouraged, of course...

That is all.

Don't Mess With Mama Bear, Part II

Several folks sent this one in. Seems they thought it might resonate...

Texas mom says she punched robber, ran over him to protect children
A Texas mother says she threw an armed robber out of her van and ran over him after he threatened two of her children.
Dorothy Baker, of Baytown, said she was driving with her 2-year-old and 5-year-old sons when a man popped up from behind the third row of her van, demanding $200 in cash, KHOU reports.
One minor quibble here:
She believes Martinez, who is in stable condition at a hospital, got in her unlocked van during a stop at a Kroger food store.
Lock your damn doors, people. Look, I know it's a pain in the butt, especially with two young kids, but that's a basic rule of safety. Not only that, but it doesn't seem like she checked the van before getting in. It helps prevent thefts of opportunity, random vandalism, and possible tomfoolery (someone could fill your car with rhubarb, for instance).

Dude lunged at her with a knife. She not only stopped his attack, but disarmed him and rattled him enough to get him to jump out of the van. As he ran off, she realized he was going to do this to someone else, so she ran his ass down.

[pause to let cheering and clapping subside]

This is Texas. The odds of finding a jury that would convict this woman are pretty slim, I would imagine. I think "My foot slipped" or "I hit the gas instead of the brake in a panic" would be sufficient "evidence" to get this thrown out. He's damn lucky she didn't put a round through his running lights. It just goes to show you, though. You mess with someone's kids, you are in for a world of hurt.

Speaking for no one other than myself, my son's arrival was one of the big pushes that got me back into "the gun thing". I got my permit after my grandfather passed away and I inherited his pistols; I bought a couple handguns - none really suitable for concealed carry - and didn't think much of it beyond plinking. Then my world changed: I was responsible for the safety of this little person. That's a game-changer. I wanted the best tools possible to keep my son (and later, daughter) safe.

Of course, if it came down to it, my foot could slip on the gas pedal of the Dodge Earthf**ker, too...

That is all.

Make Your Day More Badass...

Stop by the post office and get a roll of these:
Stamp honoring Johnny Cash to go on sale Wednesday
Beginning Wednesday, you’ll be able to put Johnny Cash on all your mail.
A “forever” stamp honoring the country music legend will go on sale, coinciding with the end of a yearlong celebration of the Man in Black’s life and career. A free public concert in Nashville by family and friends of the singer also will honor his six-decade career.
I know what you're thinking. I thought it too. The picture from his 1969 San Quentin prison performance would have been more Johnny Cash, but something tells me the USPS wouldn't have approved it. In any case, I highly approve of this new stamp, and expect to be swinging by the post office this weekend to see if they have a roll of these.

As a side note, I have to give the USPS props for the "Forever" concept. Rather than make you run out and buy $0.01/$0.02/whatever stamps, just make the damn things good from the day they're rolled out. I would wager that the loss incurred from people buying a stamp at one price and then using it later on after an increase is more than offset by the printing costs of the smaller denominations.

In any case, put some Cash in your outgoing mail!

That is all.

He Pulls A Knife, You Pull A Gun...

Apparently someone in Thailand subscribes to the "Chicago Way" philosophy. Watch this video of an attempted attack on an all-girl's nursing school in Thailand:

Apparently the attackers were hoping to demoralize the female students with the assault. Apparently they failed to perform their due diligence in scoping out the facility, because they missed the part about the banzai security guard who shoots first and chases down your limping @$$ later.

If ever there was a video in need of the Yakkity Sax treatment...

That is all.

What's the Russian Word for Badass?

I'll bet it's this guy's name:

Skidmark sends in this video. At some point during fighting against Chechnyan rebels, a Russian soldier took a round to the forehead literally right between the runnin' lights. Not only did it not penetrate, but it was removed with a pair of pliers - and at the end of the video this dude is smiling. That's some serious badassery right there, folks. Now, there's some question as to whether it was an actual round or perhaps a ricochet, but in either case, this guy had a chunk of metal taken out of his skull with a pair of pliers and was smiling afterwards.

Mental note: If the Russians attack, nothing short of .454 Casull, please...

That is all.

Don't EVER F**K With Mama Bear...

I love a story with a happy ending. Thanks to Joseph in IL for the feel-good story of the day.

Mom in NM chases down child abductor; man arrested
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A mother whose 4-year-old was being abducted chased the suspect down and crashed her vehicle into his car, triggering a manhunt and the arrest of the suspect, Albuquerque police said Thursday.

The young girl was playing in her yard at St. Anthony's Plaza Apartments in Albuquerque's North Valley about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when a group of teenagers saw the kidnapping and ran to alert the girl's mother, police said.
Madam, my hat is off to you. Chased him down, ran him off the road, and caused him to flee the scene in terror. The only way this could have been better would have been for you to have caught him, beaten him to within an inch of his life, and video with audio recording played at his court hearing so all the other prisoners hear him screaming as you beat his ass.

Don't mess with Mama Bear. Dad'll just kill your ass dead. Mama bear will make sure you suffer, first.

Little girl safe? Check.

Predator stopped? Check.

Predator captured? Check.

Predator never going to show his face in that town again? More than likely.

Excelsior, good woman; excelsior.

File Under "Not Going To Do Well In Prison"...

Formynder sent this in (alongside this coming Friday's awesome gun pr0n pic):

70-Year-Old Gardner Man Fights Off Home Intruder
GARDNER (CBS) — Seventy-year-old Michael Salame has eight heart stents, nerve damage and apparently quite a right hook, as an alleged home invader found out.

It was about 3 a.m. Saturday when Salame was at home with his girlfriend and heard something outside.

A seventy year old man - with his girlfriend - beat the bag out of a 24 year old intruder. Took him to the ground and whomped the crap out of him. You know something? If you're in the prime of your life and you get the living hell beaten out of you by a septuagenarian, you deserve every bit of crap you get in prison.

Later in the story we find out that Salame was a welder, which certainly explains his tenacity and ability to put a younger man down. Two groups of people you just don't mess with are welders and masons. Masons especially - you tend to develop a bit of muscle when the *light* tools are 4 pounds each...

There's also the obligatory note from the police to not resist intruders. I honestly don't understand this mindset, I don't. Sure, you might get lucky and find the 1 in 100 intruder who is really just looking for something to grab and run, but do you really want to put yourself up against an unknown assailant and rely on their good graces?

I'd prefer to rely on Mssrs. Smith & Wesson, thank you.

That is all.

Giant Brass Ones...

Joseph in IL sends in this heartwarming tale of a goblin who, while not getting deadified, certainly found out the hard way that simply having a gun isn't always enough...

Man turns tables on shotgun-wielding attacker
A man being robbed at gunpoint at 5 a.m. Saturday morning in New Orleans turned the tables on his attacker when he managed to grab the shotgun, causing the attacker to flee.

The confrontation was captured by surveillance footage from a nearby security camera. According to WWL.com, the victim-turned-vigilante wasn't done yet.
There's even video:

Now, I don't know if the shotgun wasn't loaded and the intended victim could see that; if it was an airsoft gun; or if he was just such an incredible badass that the thought of a loaded shotgun mere inches from his face simply pissed him off. He grabs the gun, wrenches it out of his attacker's hands, and then starts chasing the dude. Badass. Here's the best part - later on, they pull up and offer a deal. Apparently in the exchange he dropped his phone and they got it - and they offered to trade him his own phone for the gun. I'm guessing the gun wasn't loaded, because that would be world-class stupidity right there if it had been.

As it turns out, he declined their offer and then shattered the back window of their car with the shotgun to make it easier to spot. Badass! The one take-home lesson here, the main reason I posted this, actually, is that simply having a gun isn't necessarily going to be enough. The young tough thought that sticking a shotgun in someone's face would be enough to get them to hand over their money. When it wasn't, he wasn't prepared to deal with the consequences - like it never dawned on him that someone might resist.

It's funny when it's a crook getting his gun taken away and his ass beat - it's not funny when it's a good person who can't bring themselves to shoot who winds up dead.

That is all.

A Marine Is Never Unarmed...

Fortunately, in this case, this Marine was carrying the best tool for the job...

Marine with concealed carry permit stops man from beating woman
WEST ALLIS (WITI) — A Marine Corps veteran was able to stop a man early Tuesday, March 12th from nearly kicking a woman to death. It happened near 102nd and Lincoln, and Wisconsin’s concealed carry law made his efforts possible.
Charlie Blackmore was driving home from work at 4:00 a.m. along Lincoln Avenue when he saw something on the sidewalk. Blackmore didn’t realize it was a woman on the ground being kicked in the head and stomach until he got closer.
The Marine got out of his car, ordered the aggressor to stop, and pulled his concealed weapon when the man threatened him. Something tells me that, despite the man's size, that handgun saved him a lot of pain from the ass-whupping he'd have received if that Marine hadn't had a gun on him.

This is one of those really tough calls. The smart thing to do, from a purely legal standpoint, would be to remain in your car, honking the horn, while on the phone with 911. Draw attention to the situation, let it be known that you are alerting the authorities, but not get directly involved. If the aggressor turns his attention directly to you, you are in your vehicle and can leave, and you have the added bonus of drawing him away from the victim, giving the victim time to escape if possible.

This is a lot easier to type out than to do, though...

I've got to give that Marine a HUGE hand here. He managed to balance stopping the attack, keeping the victim from receiving any further injury, *and* not bashing the SOB into an unrecognizable pulp even though he had every right in the world to do just that. He handled that situation about as perfectly as he could have - although a part of me wishes the jackass had attacked him so he'd have been justified in either shooting him or beating the ever-loving snot out of him.

The remainder of the article, though, is in furiating. The cops demand to see his concealed carry permit? Are you serious? This guy intervenes in a felony assault, saving this woman further injury, and all the cops care about is that he has the proper permit? Really? The next part about the cops not condoning the Marine's actions don't surprise me - we hear this in the majorty of citizen-involved crime thwarting - but that they felt the need to both check his permit and include that in the article as though it meant anything... What if he had been open carrying, which is legal in WI without a permit?

In any case, we have a clear-cut case of a defensive gun use where not a single shot was fired. I don't expect this story to make the nightly news; I don't expect anyone outside of the gun blogosphere to even notice it. But when the forces against freedom tell you that there are no instances of this happening - which they will do - here's yet another story where a good guy with a gun saves someone's life. Not the police, not the state, but an ordinary joe on his way home from work.

Semper fi, Marine; job very well done.

That is all.

Thanks to Joseph in IL for the story!

Life Imitates "Fast Times At Ridgemont High"

Dunkin' Donuts worker stops robbery -- with hot coffee
When a man tried to rob a Dunkin’ Donuts in Connecticut on Saturday night, an employee acted quickly and stopped him with the closest weapon available -- hot coffee.
The attempted robbery happened shortly after 11 p.m. at a Dunkin' Donuts in West Haven, when a man pulled up to the drive-through and asked the clerk for change for a $100 bill, according to Sgt. David Tammaro, of the West Haven Police Department.
A local radio station had an interview with the young woman - aside from the thick NY accent, she sounded pretty well-composed considering what happened. This wasn't a simple note saying "this is a robbery" - the guy actually tried to come through the drive-through window. My guess is he got a face full of piping hot Dunks when he tried to hoist himself up and into the window. In any case, that's pretty badass taking care of business right there. I certainly hope she's not fired for not complying...

In any case, it's not known if Spiccoli was around to pronouce it "totally awesome"...

That is all.

Ooh RAH!

Joseph in IL sends in the feel-good story of the day.

Marine Veteran Stops Rape Attempt Along Lakefront
CHICAGO (CBS) – A Marine veteran came to the aid of a woman who was being assaulted on the Lakefront Bike Path on Wednesday.

CBS 2’s Susanna Song reports 24-year-old Michael Adams, an East Side resident, was driving south on Lake Shore Drive near 63rd Street Wednesday afternoon, when he saw a young man apparently trying to rape a woman along the lakefront.
Semper fi, semper badass. In today's day and age, fewer and fewer people are willing to risk getting involved, either from a fear of retaliation, lack of ambition, nor simple inaction. This Marine, unsurprisingly, suffers from none of that. He saw something bad going down, he stepped in, he prevented something bad from happening.

Mere words cannot express how grateful I am that people like him walk among us.

That is all.

Ban Assault Spears!

Okay, this is a little ridiculous...

Northbridge Officer Stabbed With Spear After A High Speed Chase
NORTHBRIDGE (CBS) – A Northbridge police officer was stabbed with a double-bladed spear following a car chase Friday morning.
Police say the officer, Thomas Dejordy, was helping Milford police stop a blue 2003 Jaguar that was clocked going 70 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Apparently the dude made it to his home, sprinted upstairs where he grabbed a spear, and proceeded to stab the cop through his protective vest. The officer - even though wounded - was able to subdue the suspect without shooting him 15 times and took him into custody. Bravo, officer. That you managed to bring him in despite your wounds is excellent. That you were able to do it without shooting him multiple times - something that I don't think anyone would have faulted you for doing - speaks volumes to your professionalism as well as your sheer badassery.

Dude stabbed you with a spear and you still took him down. DAMN.

Second point: Can we please put to rest the idea that we have a gun problem and instead focus on a social problem? Where on earth does someone get the notion that it is an acceptable response to a) travel well over twice the speed limit; b) run from the police; or c) assault a police officer? Ironically enough, if he had shot the officer, he might have done less damage - the vest would have stopped a handgun round. That his first instinct was to grab a weapon, period, speaks volumes.

Ban guns and the criminals and insane find other weapons - do we need a Coalition to Stop Spear Violence next?

That is all.

Gotta Be More To This Story...

Joseph in IL sends in this head-scratcher out of PA:

Police: Grandmother stabs granddaughter's attacker inside Hill District home
PITTSBURGH — A grandmother was arrested after police said she stabbed a man who was attacking her granddaughter.
Police said the victim was hitting the woman's granddaughter in their home on Barnett Way in the Hill District Thursday.
Okay, so far so good. You make do with the tools you have at hand, and it certainly sounds like it stopped the attack. However, while the article clearly states that the grandmother was arrested, there's no reporting on why. It runs counter to what you'd expect - even in the staunchest anti-self defense places (MA/NY/CA/etc.), defending yourself or your loved ones from attack in your own home is pretty cut-and-dried (no pun intended).

The only thing I can think of is that he was stabbed in the back. This makes sense, though, in that if the grandmother heard the commotion and walked into the room to see him hitting her. She must have gotten him good, because he's still in the hospital listed in critical condition at the tmie of the article. It's classic mama bear type reaction, especially if this is one of the cases where grandma is raising the child as her own. Obviously it wouldn't count as a DGC (no firearm used) if the goblin expired, but it's a perfect example of mindset being key.

Here's hoping that we either hear more info on why grandma was arrested or see her released...

That is all.

Remember, They'll Just Take Your Gun Away From You...

Heh. Jacqueline in Texas sends in the absolute feel good story of the month.

Police: Man, 79, disarms rifle-toting intruder with karate chop to throat
LEAGUE CITY, Texas — With a karate chop to the throat, a 79-year-old resident disarmed a rifle-toting man who was high on bath salts while trying to break into his home, according to League City police.

Ervin Brittnacher awoke shortly before 6 a.m. Monday to a racket in front of his house in the 3000 block of McFarland Road, League City police Lt. Bruce Whitten said.

Okay. Let's set this scene. It's 6AM on a Monday morning. This 79 year old guy is sleeping, and some crazed drug addict - armed with a rifle - starts pounding on his door. Does he cower in fear? Does he call the cops and hope they show up in time? No, he opens the door, takes the gun away, throat-punches the dude, and calls the cops.

You, sir, are the MArooned Badass of the Week. Possibly Month.

It goes to illustrate a point that I've long held. I'd rather face a sheep with a gun than a wolf with his bare hands. It's not the tool being wielded that I fear; it's the hand that wields it - someone that wishes to do me harm and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty is a threat whether they have a gun, a knife, a hammer, or a small rock. Someone that's not used to acts of violence, who will hesitate at crucial moments or doesn't have the stomach for bloodshed, well, they're less of a threat.

And the whole "they'll just take your gun away and use it against you" canard? I certainly doubt that if Mr. Brittnacher had held a firearm, that anyone would get it away from him - at least not without magically growing a bunch of new holes in themselves. There is a nugget of wisdom in the "take your gun away from you" trope. If you think you might hesitate; if there's a chance you might falter; don't pull a gun thinking it's a magic talisman that will send the bad guys running. It's a tool, nothing more, nothing less, and its effectiveness depends entirely on the person using the tool.

Or you could be a total badass like Mr. Brittnacher and just throat-punch guys half your age...

That is all.

When Chili Powder Is Outlawed...

This one, however, *is* from MA...

Massachusetts store owner thwarts robber with chili powder
STONEHAM, Mass. – A Stoneham store owner said he wasn't intimidated when a robber pointed a gun in his face and demanded the money from the cash register.
Saadat Khan calmly went behind the counter as if he was going to open the register, grabbed a cup of chili pepper powder he sprinkles on food, tossed it in the thief's face, punched him, and sent him packing empty-handed.
Okay, now that is badass right there. Facing a dude with a gun, this guy tosses chili powder - not pepper spray, actual chili powder - in the dude's face, then punches him. Since this is Massachusetts, where we "discourage self help", I expect Mr. Khan (sorry, I have to do this: KHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNN!!!!) to be arrested and charged with assault and battery with a delicious weapon.

And I certainly hope he had a Class A LTC: License to Condiment...

That is all.
