1,000 Words...

How do you make it all worthwhile?

Just get one of these, completely out of the blue:

This is what it's all about. This past Saturday I was putzing around in the office on the computer, when my son walks in, gives me a hug, and leaves this on the desk. Didn't say a word.

You couldn't have pried the smile off my face with a crowbar...

I used to get stuff like that from my nieces to their "Uncle Bob" when they were little; brightens up the whole day when you put them on the refrigerator.

As you know both of my daughters have grown up and married and moved away.

But I have still in my possession each and every note they ever wrote to me in crayon.

After they left I used to fret over what kind of daddy I had been until that still small voice in my head reminded me that I should concern myself with what kind of daddy I was still being.

Because no matter what I will always be their daddy and they will always be my little girls.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

One day my daughter sat down while I was reloading and drew a couple of pictures and some notes on blank pages of my notebook. Still have them.

And the mouse son drew me at school one day.

And the shirt with "We love you" and footprints of every critter we owned. (thumbprints from the kids)
