Friday Gun Pr0n

Today's gun is a SigSauer P232 in .380 ACP caliber. This is another take on the venerable Walther PPK introduced in 1931.

Interestingly enough, the "felt recoil" on this gun is worse than the Kel-Tec P3AT, even though this weighs quite a bit more. At least that's been my experience. It's still a sweet shooter, even given it's "back-up gun" size...

That is all.

I've never understood the attraction of the Sig .380--Insane price, not all that msall for the caliber, and it's a .380. If felt recoil is like a P3AT that kills the last possible reason to pick it over any other gun.

It reminds me of the version of the Porsche 914 with Volkswagon engine and suspension.

It's a good thing this isn't mine, then, isn't it? :)

Actually, it really *is* a great shooter. The sights are really nice and make for quick acquisition, and it's flat and carries well even despite the weight.

But yeah. I don't get it, either, especially given:

a) Kel-Tec P3AT at ~ 1/2 the price and 1/3 the weight with same capacity;

or

b) S&W 637 at a little more than 1/2 the price, 1/2 the weight, -2 capacity but .38 special +P stopping power.

Gotta love the Massachusetts compliant features.

When I stared carrying, I didn't understand the popularity of the J frame. Now if it is over 65 degrees, I've probably got one in my pocket. I was wondering if there was something similar with the Sig

If I were tactful, I should have said "Last reason for ME to pick it"--I value utility over all else in a carry gun, some have different priorities.

Well, it IS a cutie.

Hey Jay, I've got a couple links over at my place for rebate info on Winchester & Remington ammo. They're good deals (I cashed in on their last promo)& appropriate for NAD/W as well.

Help spread the word, wudja?

An odd quirk of pure blowback semi pistols, this.

Though I've not any scientific proof, after being an avid shooter for well over 35 of my 49 years, I've come to this conclusion:

Sometimes, the mass of the slide slamming into the frame is actually worse than the newtonian physics of the cartridge, itself.

Someone smarter (and better financed and properly lab-equipped for such measurements) than me, really oughta run some variation of Box O'Truth on that one. But, I'll wager a bottle of Maker's that I'm pretty much correct.

KelTec .380...recoil is sharp, but not bad. Heavier slide on the Sig; painful.

Takers, anyone?
