I can't decide if I want a folding stock (a la Butler Creek) or something in the telescoping family (like Knoxx).
*Both would be verboten on most other post-ban long arms in MA, so it's not the "forbidden fruit" aspect.
*They're within $20 of each other, so it's not price.
I just can't decide if I want the practical aspect (smaller storage footprint) of the folder vs. the wizbang tacticool telescoping.
Any thoughts/suggestions/reviews would be appreciated...

Are you really that keen about throwing off the balance of your 1300 for a bit of storage space? Personally, I don't care for a pistol grip on a shotgun. Doesn't "feel right" to me. And when I have the money I'll be getting a short barrel for my A-5 and adding a mag extension to offset the lost barrel weight. Keeps the balance about where it was designed to be.
Besides...how are ya gonna butt stroke that zombie with a wire or plastic stock?

Durability should be a consideration. Which one will hold up better under adverse conditions?
Spend the money for the Knox with recoil suspension - your shoulder will thank you for it!

I've got a Butler on my 10/22 and have (past tense) had one on my 870.
I found the recoil unpleasant; narrow pad + reduced weight + 12 gauge = bruised shoulder.
Now I'm back to the wooden stock. If I was buying one now, I'd consider a speed-feed.
(Though contra Civis, I think the Butler would probably hold up to a few butt-strokes. It's not wire; it's pretty strong tube-stock.)
Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I've ordered the Knoxx telescoping and recoil-reducing stock. Will give a range report once I've had a chance to shoot it.
Is the recoil that bad? I like Civis' take... being able to use the butt as a last resort seems like an excellent feature in a weapon that has to be used in close quarters.
I also like the mag extension, as a barrel heavy gun swings better...
No, the recoil's not that bad, but the difference in price between the recoil-reducing stock and the non-recoil-reducing stock is only like $20. For that little scratch I'll be a wuss...
As for butt-stroking, well, if I've used up all 9 shots in the scattergun and all 31 shots in the back-up handgun, having a club handy is the least of my worries... ;)
Good choice. The telescoping stock can be good for adjusting the pull lenth too. Say if you want to teach a lady or a smaller person how to use a room-broom, or if you find yourself fighting zombies, mutants, or goblins in a winter parka.
As for a last resort I'm very happy that my SKS and Mossberg 590 both come compleat with bayonets!

Obviously, as the old saying goes, whatever floats yer boat. The recoil of a 12 ga has never been an issue with me so that wouldn't factor in when considering a stock like you're looking at. It boils down to "how it feels" and, like the all worshiped Glock, a pistol-griped shotgun just doesn't cut it for me. It'll be interesting to read your range report.
