Life Is Good...

Okay, I gotta post this late Friday night so y'all don't think I've lost my edge...

You've got to savor life's little victories, because the big ones are few and far between. In that vein, I celebrate one today: Finding a motorcycle inspection station that's less than 20 miles from my house... And, a little over a week before every inspection sticker in MA expires*, I rolled up to the shop and was waved right on into the garage. No wait.

Hoping to have some time tomorrow to post about the Memorial Day ceremony I took the Scouts to last night. Small town America, even in the Volksrepublik of MA, still loves and celebrates her heroes.

(*In MA, all motorcycle inspections expire 5/31. It's stupid, in that you have about a month after taking the bike out of storage to get it inspected on the weekend. From May 1st on, you've got to find a place open late and get there after work. At least in NH it's June 30th, which gives a whole extra month)

Dang!

The closest thing to motorcycle inspection in the Great Lakes State is on the rider...

He has to demonstrate the ability to pass a road-test.

...road test and a written test, that is.

Yeah, we have to do the road/written test, too. I got my motorcycle endorsement [thinks] 13 years ago.

Holy shit, I am old...

Vmaximus,

I've got a Harley Electra Glide (read: Geezer Glide).

Bought the full tourer for days just like today - took my seven year old son on a tour of the three surrounding towns. Gone about 45 minutes, which is really the limit of his endurance at this point.

Getting off the bike after parking it safely in the garage, and looking at my son and seeing the sheer joy on his face, I was glad to have sprung for the larger bike with the footboards and the wiiiiide leather seat...

As I said, life is good...

I dare someone to top this Friday:

I get a notice to be at my kids' school presentations (last day of school) because my kids will be getting awards. So, I know that my little girl is going to get perfect attendance and the honor roll (yeah, All As all year, that's m'girl) but I don't know what my boy is getting. I assume that it'll be a subjective award like citizenship or 'most improved' because of his progress....whatever, I'm happy.

Then, I'm at the ceremony & my daughter gets hers PLUS notification that she excelled in three subjects on the state standardized tests, plus a medal for per performance in the chorus. Oh, and my boy's award? Highest math scores in his class, baby. Wept openly at the announcement (he has autism, for the uninitiated).

I was reminded, yet again, to never, never, never, never, never....EVER, underestimate my son.

You'd think I'd have learned by now.

Life is good and I'm well aware that God has blessed me far beyond what I ever imagined or deserved.
