Okay, One More Random Riff...

The Red Cross keeps calling me looking for me to come donate blood. I try to give as often as I can, and am due to donate soon. But they keep calling and calling, and it's almost always around dinner time.

Helpful hint, guys: That shit pisses people off...

It's generally considered a bad idea to piss off people you're trying to get to give you something for free...

Bloodsuckers...

That is all.

Yeah same here. I am near their donor center on friday afternoons, and sometimes I stop in - and they are always closed on friday afternoons. Oh well.

When they call and hound me, I suggest they call Keith Richards.

Last time they asked for a donation I informed them that because of their organization's support and help of terrorist organizations. Specifically I mentioned the photos of red cross members helping Hamas terrorists cross rivers during the 2004 Israeli war.

The only charity's Ill even talk to are the Shriner's burn hospitals and the Wounded Warrior project.

I used to give blood regularly through the local blood bank for many years (working on my 4th gallon) when they banned me a few years back for living overseas in Germany with the Army. Something about the commissary buying meat from Britain. They seem to have more rules as to who cannot donate than those who can.

Annoying as hell, not to mention the ugly fact that the American Red Cross sells donor blood for profits.

If you donate blood, donate to someone besides ARC. They're increasingly a crooked, autocratic, sham organization interested only in helping themselves.

AD,

I give to the ARC simply because they're open all the time. Whenever possible, I give to local hospitals; specifically the one that treated my dad after his heart attack (Brigham & Women's).

And Mrs. G works in the lab at the local hospital. I know exactly what the Red Cross charges for a pint of blood.
