Let's Start A Pool...

In which state is Laura Bush going to run for Senator?

Obviously, Texas would be the first choice - it's her home state; it's where she currently lives and would make the most sense. Problem, of course, is that it's already got two Republican Senators - Cornyn just won re-election to his second term, and Hutchison was recently re-elected to her third full term - neither is going anywhere anytime soon.

It would be deliciously ironic if Mrs. Bush chose NY, gunning for senior Senator Charles "Chuck the Schmuck" Schumer's seat in 2010. Of course, the likelihood of a Republican named Bush winning a Senate race in NYFS is fairly slim. But wouldn't it be funny to see Laura and Hillary! squaring off? Heh.

Barbara Boxer's up in CA in 2010 - wouldn't that just be a hoot and a half? And Patty "Osama built daycares" Murray is also up in WA state - it would be the absolute height of poetic justice to see that moonbat driven from office (and ideally ridden out of town on a rail), but once again, a right-leaning candidate connected to the current administration will go over like a fart in church...

Other long shots would be Barbara Mikulsy in MD, Patrick Leahy in VT, or perhaps Chris Dodd in CT. Hmmm. Now wouldn't that be a kick in the ass, seeing Chris "other half of a waitress sandwich" Dodd (also the largest recipient of Fannie Mae donations...) getting his seat stolen by Laura Bush...

Oh, and while I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony...

I have a feeling the chances are slim and none that Laura will run. I just saw the news that she's shopping her memoirs around, and was reminded of Hillary!'s $8 mil. advance on her memoirs some eight years ago. Thinking along parallel lines, it lead to wondering where Laura could run should she choose...

That is all.

Jay,
You missed the obvious -- MAINE. The Bush family has a strong presence in the state, and Olympia "Rino" Snowe needs replacing.

And just so I don't forget, have a happy, safe, and healthy holiday tomorrow. FYI . . . if the alpine gods are shining upon me, ski season starts this weekend in my household.

It may take a couple of election cycles for a Bush to win anything anywhere.

But she could probably hold her own in Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia or Tennessee.

We loves our Republicans down here in the former CSA

Jay,

Speculation is that Hutchinson will make a run for Governor next election cycle, so her Senate Seat would be open.

Bob is right. Hutchison's running for Governor (Perry was reelected, but with only 40-some-odd percent of the vote). That will leave a woman's seat open. She'd be a shoo-in.

Laura is a librarian, you know.

I'd be more interested in finding out which network is going to give a Bush advisor one of their big-time journalistic gigs or Sunday talk shows, whereby their years of partisan wrangling with the current congressional opponents is suddenly forgotten and they're taken seriously by the MSM.

Then again, I don't recall Bush having someone named Stephanopoulus in his inner-circle.

Hmm, lets see. Laura Bush, who's basically never expressed any interest in politics or public policy, running for Senator when her husband is among the most hated men in the world and has lower approval ratings than Nixon when he left in disgrace.

Suuuuuure....

...approval ratings that are, coincidentally, higher than that of the Democratically controlled Congress...

And no wonder...talk about a bunch of worthless cokaroaches...

Democrats don't act like democrats and Republicans don't act like Republicans..What's to like?

I still like my quote of the day from a couple of days ago: “Democrats, Republicans, I hate ‘em both! The Democrats want to take my guns, the Republicans want to take my porn.”

Like Wilton Parmenter, Bill got it right while at the same time getting it wrong.

I've never heard a peep that Laura Bush has any interest in politics. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that she's looking forward to going back to relative obscurity.

Like Bob and Sabra said, I too heard that Hutchinson is going to run for Governor next time around. I was in fact talking with real live Texans just about this time yesterday about this. There is no real sense who is going to run for Senator, but Laura Bush's name didn't come up at all.

Interestingly Bill, GWB is very popular in Iraq, Africa, and much of eastern Europe. He's far from the most hated man in the world. I can think of many other candidates far more worthy.
