So Obama's gonna throw gun owners under the bus, eh? Unc, Robb, Caleb, Sebastian and many others have picked up on rumors that there's something big coming our way, and it ain't good.
Does this really come as a surprise to anyone? Really? I mean, I called it in September. Barack Obama, despite protestations of being a friend to the Second Amendment (GUFFAW!), has been a steadfast opponent of the proles' right to keep and bear arms in his short political career.
This should surprise no one.
What can we do? Well, keep the letters rolling. If you've got plans to join the NRA and (not or) your state level pro-2A organization, do it now. Sign up for a Life Membership, or if that's not economically viable, renew for three years rather than just one.
Bring new shooters to the range. See my sidebar for my standing offer. So far I've had about a dozen takers over the year, and 2009 is shaping up to be a banner year. Bring your kids to the range. Arrange for your local Boy Scout troop to have some time at the range (there are strict regulations on earning "Marksman" badges, so clear everything with the local Scoutmaster first).
Do whatever you can. Keep the faith. And work like hell to throw out anyone who supports ANY FURTHER INTRUSION on our Second Amendment rights.
Our children are counting on it.

My untrained opinion would be that some executive orders off the bat - likely to ban imported (aka CHEAP) ammo.
Bush did it to cut off chineese guns and ammo, citing China's poor practices with human rights. Apparently not bad enough to stock all our walmarts, but bad enough to not stock sporting goods stores....

Then onto the other imaginary line in the sand - the "sporting purpose" clause. If your gun isnt pretty enough you are SOL. Cali's AWB with the few holes closed and rolled out across the country. Everything you have in your posession on March 1st 09 (example) you can keep but not transfer, nor acquire more of.
I don't see how in the hell you guys keep up with all of the laws that exist already.

Wait, it gets worse. If this op-ed is correct, then any letters, calls, etc. to Republican House members just became useless, because Bitch Princess Pelosi is planning revisions to the house operating rules that will completely disempower the Republican minority. The proposed changes will "bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress."
Forget about the chance of peace in the Palestinian territories -- my doubts that a peaceful resolution in AMERICA is still possible are growing by the day. This filthy bitch means to completely disenfranchise every voter with a Republican representative.
One commenter on the Bane blog said of Obama that "This is an easy pass and will raise him back to messiah status."
I'm more worried that someone is going to convert him to martyr status...
And on cue, BATF just blew another one out of the water. They just reclassified the XMG and now it's a post-sample (nontransferable) machine gun.
The XMG (in .308) was next on my toy list. Did uncle ATF just save me $4k with their ruling? Well that is not how I see it at all.
