Colt New Frontier
Picked this up in a trade for ammo and some pre-ban magazines. When I saw the picture listed, with the case-hardened frame, I had to make it mine. I had divested of my single action revolvers a couple years ago, with the sale of my Ruger Super Blackhawk. I'd had a Single Six with the .22 Magnum cylinder as well, and sold it when I got the Model 17.
But now I've got the Marlin Model 39A, so naturally I needed a companion SA .22LR revolver, right?
That is all.

All,
Having seen the Colt at Jay's last weekend outing, I can say the picture does not do justice to the genuine article. The pattern in the metal from the case hardening is deeply hughed & richly colored. This is a worthy acquisition.

Do you have the .22 Magnum cylinder for it as well? I bought my New Frontier a million years ago at Roach's Hardware in Cambridge. Enjoy.
Nice find Jay; you just made me realize that I have no case hardened steel on any of my shootin' irons. I thought I was all done buying guns. Dammit! How late does the KTP stay open to on weekends?
Brad,
Thanks for the back-up. You know, I still haven't shot it yet...
Just sayin' is all...
libertyman,
I don't have the .22 Magnum cylinder. Can I just buy one and drop it in, or is there some difference that would prevent that?
It continues to puzzle me that .22 Mag and .22LR are NOT interchangeable like .357 Mag and .38 Special...
angus,
I believe KTP is open until 9 on Saturdays and 6 or 7 on Sundays...
*g*
Just ask anyone - I *am* the little devil on your shoulder going "BUY IT! BUY IT!"
:)
Jay,
Happy to provide the backup. All part of the service, you know (grovelling). Until my Darling Charming Wife 'allows' arms in the house, I am left to the mercy & generosity of others, but you know that already (more grovelling). I should have at least one more outing prior to my June 11 knee surgery, ostensibly to raise my spirits. Maybe an all .22 outing (still more grovelling). Just sayin'.

The 22 mag cylinder should drop in -- it sounds like a .38 with that. Also, the cylinder is fluteless, giving it a different look. Where to go to get one? The 22 magnum was deliberately designed to not interchange, fearing use in old guns, I guess.
.22 Magnum Cylinder

I too am a .22 caliber John Wayne, with the New Frontier (the 22 mag cylinder wasn't very expensive, and slipped right in), my model 39 and a Winchester 9422 in .22 Mag.
Now if there was just ammo available, these wonderful units could be back in action with the kids and me on weekends.
