BFHD

So Ruger's revolutionary announcement is... ANOTHER entry in the AR-15 pantheon. Yawn. Oh, but this one has a gas piston! Ruger's gone from ripping off Kel-Tec to ripping off SigSauer now.

Color me unimpressed...

That is all.

Sig is not the only piston system rifle around.

I personally like it, and if the price is around $1500-$1600 street, it may be a good deal.

Comes with 3 P-Mags, full rails, covers, and flip sites.

I will wait of course for results.

Right there with you Jay... as with their previous "redesigns", what we see is nothing revolutionary, and, in this particular case, it is decidedly nothing special. For the price, I might as well get a POF, and go with someone who has not had to recall two out of their past three "new" products.

I'd like it more if it cost $800 or so.

I'd like it even better if it was $400.00 and came with a 1000 rounds of 62gr mil-spec ammo.

Yep. For that kind of coin I'd rather have a Springfield M1A...

Nice to find your blog. It's a good red, white, and blue read. Something we don't get much of in the Fatherland anymore.

Even free, I wouldn't buy it. Not that I don't WANT one, but I'm in NJ where a 16 round mag is "hi-cap" and illegal. We're right there with ya MA, vying to be just like Kalifornia.

@Linoge Get the POF and put it on the Ruger SR-556. (Yes, the Ruger uses a standard receiver unlike the Sig.)

As for the recall. I kind of get annoyed at everyone bashing Ruger for their two recalls. Have you looked at S&W recalls? Oh yes, they've had a number. But they don't shout about it. They're like Ford. They keep silent about issues (Revolver internal locks locking up & Walther 22 slides cracking.) And when they do conduct a recall it's quiet and on the back pages.

Ruger is just more pro-active on safety than many manufactuers. I wonder how many guns on the market would have failed the test that the SR-9 went through. How many pistols are far less drop safe?

Why do we damn a company for taking the higher road?

@New Jovian Thunderbolt...um when was the last time you saw an AR for $800? AK's and Saiga's are going for that now. Reasonable or not...

@Jay, the Ruger gas piston is somewhat different than the SigSauer. Advantages/Disadvantages, I'm not sure. But the Ruger does use a standard receiver. On the flip side, the Sig can have a folding stock.
