Man has no regrets defending Oklahoma City pharmacy
Jerome Ersland was back at work Thursday filling prescriptions and hoping that by taking the life of a 16-year-old boy two days earlier, he had saved others.
Rubbing an oversized bandage on his left forearm, where he said he was grazed by a robber’s bullet, Ersland related details of what he said was a highly organized hit on the Reliable Discount Pharmacy.
"I just regret anybody would get killed,” Ersland said. "But if I wouldn’t have been here, there would have been three people killed — the other pharmacist and the two techs.”
Naturally, owing to the amount of pigment present/not present in the skin of the shooter and the shootee, charges of racism abound. Never mind that Our Hero™ was shot first; obviously it's racism that he shot and killed the young punk who tried to kill him. It's a sad yet predictable charge, one levied as easily as water in this day and age where nothing is ever your fault and "THE MAN" is always out to keep you down, I guess. Although a more prudent method of avoiding getting shot by law-abiding citizens would be to NOT ROB STORES AT GUNPOINT...

I recall a similar situation described in, "To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Tell the Truth" by the late Colonel Cooper, where a goblin attempted some unofficial wealth transfer under threat of great bodily injury, but the intended benefactor turned out to have a .380, and he also emptied the magazine to stop the goblin. The District Attorney looked at the emptied magazine and then measured the ethnicity of the parties, and brought charges. Having to empty the magazine leaves one vulnerable to charges that one cannot keep the gun on target and empty the magazine within the time of "hot blood" or the time one could be under the influence of reasonable fear for one's life, so therefore the killing was premeditated.

A LEO I used to know was shot from about 6 feet by a .380 a few years back. He was wearing an old Navy pea coat. The bullet lodged in the skin over his breastbone, slightly cracking the bone. He was able to pull the bullet out with his fingers. If it had been lower, it probably would have caused more injury, but between the heavy material, and the fact that it hit bone, it didn't do a lot of damage.
IIRC, military training is to pretty much empty the gun into center mass (but I could easily be wrong about that). I think common sense says "shoot him til he don't get up again."
I hate it when people scream racism instead of poor parenting. I grew up with a bunch of damn fine black people for friends, and not a one of them has ever robbed anyone or anything, much less shot at a disabled vet. Ergo, not a one of them has ever been killed in self-defense. It's a pretty easy cause-effect relationship, even enshrined in rap music: You live by the gun, you die by the gun.

Hi, I live in OKC. Spoke with Jerome today. He still has not been cleared by police. He says the are saying he "may have" used excessive force. Anyway, today (Wednesday) DA is supposed to announce his decision on this case.
FYI, Jerome also used the Taurus Judge.
Tomorrow is "Deadwun's" funeral. PD is kind of watching for some activity by blacks after funeral...

One just needs to ask the local Police trainer to recite how the local officers are trained to shoot a deadly threat.
I'd assume in this Day and Age the "Shoot until the threat stops" has become universal in LEO training, as well as civilian self defense.
If the threat doesn't stop when your mag/cylender runs dry that means draw gun#2 or take cover and reload and let 'er Rip some more.
Hell I don't even think the 8+1 my carry 1911 offers me in .45 ACP will be enugh...that's why I pack two spare mags on my rig.

That's reprehensible.
If there was EVER a "good shoot", this was it. I'm assuming, of course, that the "facts" as presented by the newspaper report are correct; however given the generally anti-gun, anti-self defense tone of the article, I'd imagine that the facts of the case will only support Jerome further.
Let's hope and pray they don't throw him under the bus to appease the racial warlords.

OKC annonymous again here. I personally spoke with Jerome yesterday at the pharmacy. I wish I could say here, specifically, how he took down Antwun. After he is hopefully cleared today, I will tell how (what gun, what kind of shell) he used.
My motorcycle club went by his business yesterday and offered our whole-hearted supported support for him....since he is a wounded (mortar shrapnel) vet from Desert Storm. He also showed letters of support from retired FBI agents, retired Okla Highway Patrol, and many regular folk!
Let me just say that the perps when they cased the place thought it was an easy target. Two female employees and Jerome in a big ol' back brace from a recent surgery.
Anyway, the dead kid's (Antwun) funeral is today at 1100. My club is going to ride down by the pharmacy and see if there is any "after funeral foolishness" going on. He has received death threats, etc. Jerome is off work today, but we will be there.
I will post later today once I hear what the DAs decision is. I honestly think they (DA office) is just taking a lil' more time than normal in order to make it look like they are doing a very thorough investigation......then they will not file charges. This is Oklahoma, afterall! Ain't no court in this state EVER going to convict the guy !
When I see him again, I WILL tell him that a blogger-supporter would like to buy him a box of ammo....!!!!

Chuck in OKC back. Regretfully, I just heard on local news that the DA here, David Prater, has decided to charge the pharmacist, Jerome Ersland, with first degree murder!
I don't know the reasons yet. The DA is going to have a press conference this afternoon. I will update once I find out out what could have compelled him to do this.
This will be and interesting one to follow. I will update when I can.

This has been gaining traction - there's one video from the pharmacy that shows Jerome shooting the punk, and from that one, VERY LIMITED angle people are saying that he shot when he didn't have to.
Why they're saying this I can't tell, because you cannot see Antwun at all.
The reason for the charges is simple: The DA is either trying to stave off a race riot or make a name for himself a la Mike Nifong in the Duke case...

This case is getting stranger by the minute. Today was the bail hearing. The bail was set at 100K.
An unknown person posted the 10K necessary. Jerome is at home.
At the hearing, the DA...thazzrite, the "DA" requested Jerome be allowed to continue carrying his weapon (CCW holder, is he) because of threats that have been made. The Judge, said not only was that request denied, but if he goes to work in the pharmacy, no gun can be allowed on the premises.
DA objected...even got in shouting match with Judge!!!! I know, I was there! DA tells judge that she is leaving the workers to be "sitting ducks" while they work. Her response....incredible as it is...."I guess they can get another job" !!!
That sets off one of my motorcycle club brothers! He is later interviewed outside the courtroom and he tells them (press) that judges like that woman is what is wrong with this country.
Now, believe it or not DA and defense are making a motion to kick this judge off case! Something is going on here...if the prosecutor REALLY wanted a conviction...he has the perfect setup....black female, openly liberal judge.....black baliffs, etc! Why is he picking a fight with her and wanting her kicked off case?
I don't think he wants to become Nifong II and may be trying to find a way to extricate himself from this situation.
Based on local poll in OKC here...83% support him 12% don't support, and 5% are clueless!!!!
And Jay G...you're point about the video not showing Antwun is exactly the reason people are saying that it can't be proven for certain that Antwun was not a continuing threat.
It is geetting national traction. I saw it on Fox today. I will try to post link with video of our brother "going off" of the judge!!!!

Chuck, given the DA's actions during the hearing, it sounds as if he felt backed into a corner in regards to filing the charges & doesn't think much of them himself. Sometimes that happens for whatever reason, & I think we all know the reason here.
