Time For New Wheels...

No, I'm not getting rid of the eeeeevil Gaia-hating hemi-powered Ram From Hell™.

I'm thinking two wheels here...

[waits for jaws to finish dropping]

No, I don't mean I'm replacing the Harley, either. I want a new pedal bicycle. I've got a dedicated mountain bike that's great on the trails (even if it hasn't seen dirt in {mumble} years), and a road bike that's actively falling apart.

So I'm thinking old school. Something like this:

I want simple. I want a single-speed, coaster brake bike that will require minimal maintenance. I don't ride as much as I used to, and don't really need 27 speeds (24 of which will never get used) and disc brakes...

Besides, I want to put apehangers on something...

That is all.

Yamaha won't give you enough of a trade-in on that oil dripper to make a down-payment on a Stratoliner, huh? /me ducks

Xavier is the man to ask about the bike. His bike posts have slowed down in the last year (actually all his posts have) but he's posted quite a bit in the past about his quest for a simple oldskool bike.

Looks fine, I would get fenders, as i think it is silly not to have them.

There is a NES member who also runs a bike store. He gives NES green members a discount. Email me if you want more information.

I had one like this with butterfly bars (kinda like ape hangers) and a banana seat. Looked funny but sure was comfortable.

I never have understood the point of 21 or 24 or 28 gears on a bike. I had a three speed English "racer" decades ago and seldom even used three gears.

(Course I do like the five speed box on the Duc.)

I really want the Montague Paratrooper Tactical Folding Mountain Bike. But a single track version would be cooler.
