Saturday Afternoon Music

Today's video is one of my favorite songs, as it deals with something close to me:

"My Town" by Montgomery-Gentry.

"Where I was born, where I was raised, where I keep all my yesterdays." Yeah.

I live next door to the house I grew up in. My kids ride their bikes on the same street I did. They go to the same elementary school I went to; heck, one of the teachers was still there when my son started. And I'm not the only one, either. I know a good dozen or so guys I knew growing up who moved back here after they got out of college and settled down.

The only way this town could be better would be if it were annexed by NH...

That is all.

Jay G,

I know that this will come as a great shock to you, but as I recall, the land north of the Merrimack river was supposed to be granted to what is now NH, until it was gerrymandered into the Mass Bay Colony. Yes, I realize this was before Elridge Gerry was probably born, but it goes to show how slick political types tended to manage "up" even back then.

I don't know on which side of the river your town lies, but I bet there are more than a few of us in NH who would trade Nashua back to Dunstable and take Dracut on east in trade :)

I lurves me some Montgomery Gentry.

Seen them boys 3 times, twice at our county fair, once in the county west of us... Good stuff.

"My Town" is good, but I like "Something to be proud of" better.

That's a great song, and one of my favorites - along with Mellencamp's "Small Town", Little Big Town's "Boondocks", and Kellie Picker's "Small Town Girl".
