"Live Free or Die". Everyone knows that New Hampshire's state motto, right? So why is it that when I received my non-resident permit to carry application, I find that the modest fee of $20 for the four year permit has now quintupled??? Apparently they were feeling left out of the "shaft the gun owners" movement so thoroughly permeating their neighbor to the south...
Guess that's what happens when you let your state get infested with Democrats...
That is all.

They're going to get a big Middle finger from me when my permit expires.
Dunno if you have a bunk to crash in down in Florida, but if you can put down an address (that does not need to be your legal one) they'll issue you a Resident Florida which is 100% valid in every state your NH permit is valid in plus a zillion more.
All for $112....for SEVEN YEARS!
NH just learned a valuable economic lesson from me!
Also if they drop it to $50 or lower, I'll re-up.
Yeah, see, for me, I'd rather keep the NH permit.
It's the whole "roadside lawyer" thing. I spend a LOT of time in NH.
I do NOT want to spend a lot of time dickering with a cop because "The FL permit is legal and recognized in NH".
At least with the NH NR permit, it's hard for the cop to say it's not valid...
I'm fine with $100 for 4 or 5 years. NH grant them promptly and without any hassle, resulting in me being a happy consumer. And it's cheap considering the sales in NH and the frequency that I cross the state line.
$100/yr with a 6 month wait and an interview they kindly schedule for me in Chelsea is a little much....
Weer'd. Do that and send NH a copy of your FL license with a short & sweet note explaining why NH didn't get your $$.
The really sad thing is we're paying for a permission slip we shouldn't have to bother with in the 1st place.
Yeah yeah, I know.... I'm in a bad mood today.
Jay, you're right that it's a Dimocrat thing, but wrong on the exact reason. When Dimocrats took control of the state government two years ago, they immediately passed a bunch of new spending. Now the state budget is many millions of dollars in the red, and they're trying to balance it with increases in various taxes and fees. The gun-permit fee is only one example out of many. Many many. Many many many many many MANY!
I fell your pain. It cost me about $200 to get my seaman's papers from the coast guard 10 years ago. Now it costs over $2,000 to do the same. It took me 2 weeks to be issued all the paperwork. now it takes up to 6 months, or longer.
I'll take it one step further. This is what you get when soccer moms run your state. Top to bottom, and I include our eunich Governor, the state is run by women.
They ran up the budget with crap they couldn't pay for like wolfwalker said. Then they worked on anything but a ballanced budget through the session. Thus we have important things like gay marriage, triple auto registration fees, and almost had their bill to allow self identified transgendered something or others use whatever bathroom they feel like at the moment.
Nothing pisses me off more than the former Massholes calling talk radio bitching about the democrats their union made them vote for turning NH into North Massatwoshits.
I have a NH permit that I have never used. I applied when I thought I would be taking a trip to Pennsylvania, because it was cheap enough.
When I renew, it is unlikely it will be with New Hampshire. If I want to go discount, Pennsylvania non-resident gives me most of the same extra states. If I am willing to pay that much, I may as well get Florida since the per-year cost is similar and it gives me a state or two that NH does not.
I would probably renew if I traveled in NH frequently.
MikeW, when my NH Non-Res Expires, I'm gonna do JUST THAT!
Great idea.
Also Jay if the Cop doesn't know (or have the sense to radio in) the laws he's supposed to enforce and is willing to play cowboy you can get prettymuch fucked no matter what you do.
It could be worse...you could live in Illinois. Where the Constitution is just a fond memory for many of us. They could probably balance our budget with a CCW charge of $100. But no. We gotta save the chirrens (who keep getting murdered by handguns in Chicago). Damn guns are outta control!
Ugh, as soon as my Class A comes through this month I'm going for the NH non-residents carry permit. That I'm getting shafted even further financially is not going to put a happy face on my face.
[thought I posted this yesterday before leaving work, but when I came into work this AM it was still up on the screen]
Since NH only honors permits issued by them or the state you reside in, I think you are playing a dangerous game by using a FL resident permit while driving a car registered to you in MA and carrying a MA driver's license for ID. The risk is not worth the less then $20/yr savings by not getting a NH non-resident permit, especially since they are still fast and easy to get (just more expensive).
