Two teens dead, one wounded in home invasion shooting
San Marcos — Two Luling teenagers are dead and a third seriously wounded after they were shot by a resident in an attempted home invasion early Friday in San Marcos.
The shootings happened shortly before 2 a.m. on Chestnut Street on the west side of San Marcos. One 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and a second 16-year old died at Central Texas Medical Center. A third teen, also 16, wastransported to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin with serious wounds.
It perplexes me that, given the sheer volume of goblins who receive fatal wounds from armed homeowners, that there are still those too stupid to avoid doing home invasions in Texas. It's a lot like guys who troll the internet looking for underage girls - given the propensity of federal law enforcement to set up stings, you'd think no one would bother. Yet they do.
At least this story has a happy ending - with four people in on the home invasion, one is left to wonder exactly what would have happened had the homeowner came upon them unarmed. It's possible that they would have fled the premises - there's no mention of a weapon or weapons possessed by the late goblins in the short article, so we don't know if these were kids looking to smash-n-grab a quick X-box... Or a gang initiation where they planned to kill everyone inside and torch the house.
That's the thing. Multiple unknown folk in my house at 1:30 in the morning aren't there to sell me Girl Scout cookies. I'm going to assume the worst and act accordingly, and I'd urge everyone who has a firearm for protection to do the same. Practice multiple threat drills. Have a good lawyer in mind.
Be prepared - mentally and physically - to do whatever you have to do to make sure it's you who is talking to the cops and not being carried out under a sheet.
Dead Goblin Count: 27 & 28.
That is all.

According the the local TV news, the wayward youths had a .22 pistol and (morons) two pellet guns. #4 was arrested when he returned to the scene to see what happen to his boys.

Damn, dude! How many of your Dead Goblins got their respective punt into the afterlife by way of a Texan?
Stars ain't the only thing big and bright here. Apparently, muzzle flash is, too;)

I was watching the local TV show and had a facepalm moment when they interviewed a neighbor. I'm sure she was well meaning when she said along the lines of, 'he had a lot of guns, many in cases, many that nobody touched, some from family, like what his grandmother owned...'
Jeez, lady, put an ad in the paper already!
Good on the homeowner.
About the only good thing that I know to come out of Lulling is oil and watermelons.
I think the sulpher from the wells does something to them over there.
Lawdamighty, I understand it gets boring in Luling, but why decide to drive to another town for a home invasion? Did they think they don't have guns in San Marcos?
Piker.
Any Texan worth his salt would've managed 3 code whites....

Funny you should mention that. When I was at NTC San Diego lo those many moons ago, a group of us decided to engage in a lil' experiment.
We went out and counted all the girls on Midway Dr every night (one of the red light districts). At the end of the week, we did some research on how many sailors had gotten busted for solicitation that week.
If our numbers worked out right, something like 75-85% of the "working girls" out there had badges...
He needs to go to the range more, he missed one...

Occam's razor provides: if they were intelligent enough to consider the homeowner in Texas owning a gun, they'd be intelligent enough to know how to procure money/items in a legal manner instead of resorting to theft. Likewise, if someone is adept enough at procuring companionship (I've been to Wal-Mart & seen the clientelle and their spouses....it can't be THAT difficult to find someone) then they needn't resort to online stalking & surprise.
Thus, the very stupid - far outside the normal parameters that we'd consider simply dumb or even creepy - are usually the prey. To assume that a homeowner in TX isn't packing takes an extra serving of stupid....
