Maybe I'm Bloodthirsty...

...but this story makes me a little sad:

Convicted child killer Couey dies in prison, Florida officials say
(CNN) -- A Florida death-row inmate convicted of abducting and murdering 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford in 2005 has died, prison officials said Wednesday.

John Evander Couey, 51, died at 11:15 a.m. ET of natural causes, a Florida Department of Corrections spokeswoman told CNN. He had been taken to a Jacksonville, Florida, hospital from Florida State Prison in Starke, Florida.

It makes me sad because Couey never got to experience the bone-gripping fear of being strapped to a gurney, with a needle filled with deadly poison on the other end and an eternity in Hell beyond that. It makes me sad because Jessica Lunsford's father never got the chance to train a scoped .30-06 over Couey's heart and pull the trigger. It makes me sad that he was allowed to die with dignity, dignity denied his young victim.

It's too bad he didn't suffer.

Jessica Lunsford was buried alive, her bound fingers tearing through the bag she was left in as she slowly suffocated. Nothing we could do to Couey within the bounds of the "justice" system could come within three orders of magnitude near this evil; however a forced end to his miserable life would have been far more fitting than his passing away of natural causes. Those final moments of his life, as he's wheeled down to the room where he will be put down like the rabid animal hs is, should have been filled with her screams torturing his last moments.

Some people serve as role models. Some as cautionary examples. And still others, like Couey or Roman Polanski, serve to show that there are people on this planet that are pure, unadulterated fucking evil. I suppose, in a way, it's a good thing that Couey wasn't one of the beautiful people - otherwise we'd have Whoopi Goldberg declaring that what he did wasn't "murder-murder"...

Reading stories like this make me hug my kids extra tight and grab another magazine for the G30...

That is all.

No you're not bloodthirsty. This is a textbook definition of miscarriage of justice.

He was sentenced to execution for his evil crimes, he did not receive his sentence, there isn't anything more to say about that.

I'm with you Jay. I'm also a huge fan of the death penalty administered by the intended victims on the spot.

I'm an old-school Christian and firmly believe Couey is right now suffering pain and terror far beyond anything possible on Earth.

Check out Niven / Pournelle's "Inferno" and "Return to Hell" for an entertaining look at what is waiting for Couey. One of my favorite scenes - Seung-Hui Cho standing neck deep in a river of boiling blood for all eternity.

If you're a believer, Jay, you can rest serene in the knowledge that he'll get all that's due him.
Even as evil as he was, we're still supposed to pray for his soul. Somehow I can't summon that up.

I strongly believe we as a society, need public floggings and public hangings. Perhaps a little publicly served justice would serve, at least, as a minor deterrent to sick fucks like Couey.

You're off on one mark, Jay.

Her dad would have had to made it a headshot.

That bastard Couey didn't have a heart.
