One week to National Ammo Day. Buy at least 100 rounds of ammo - even if things are tight, 100 rounds of .22LR is still pretty cheap. Support your local merchant of death. Let the big box stores know that you're still out there, spending your shekels. Heck, even go to the big blue store 'o' doom and pick up some WWB for practice.
And remember, 100 rounds is the minimum. There's no maximum...
That is all.

Ammunition. The currency of the new millenium. Don't let any lying weasel tell you otherwise.
wish my Wally World HAD 100 rnds of anything I shoot. :(
Meh, when I was working I bought at least a box of ammo a week. I've got so much ammo I'm glad my apartment has fire sprinklers...

"There's no maximum.."
Heh, I think the ATF might disagree with you on that one.
I know my bank account would. :P
Great, so, I finally get a license and the ability to buy bullets, and y'all are about to clean out all the shelves! *grumble snarl* Maybe I'll go on Nov 18 . . .
Jay (and lissa)
Can you folks buy bulk ammo online or is that a no-no in Mass.?
I probably won't buy anything for ammo day. Can't remember the last time I went to the store to buy ammo. I do have another 500 rds. of 9mm on backorder though.
I was at Cabela's in Scarborough Maine Sunday, and there was a lot of ammo on the shelves. BUT, since I wanted a certain caliber, it was of course, sold out. The ultra rare 30 '06 ! It is hunting season, after all. Massachusetts seems to forbid mail order ammo.
Well, I did my part. I included 10 boxes of .40S&W with the Sig I sold to a buddy last weekend. Now it'll get used like it's supposed to be instead of just sitting on the shelf.
Oh yeah, I need to order another 3k of 9 and .45, so I'll do it next week... :-)
Buy bulk at SunflowerAmmo.com
In the spirit of National Ammo Day, I propose a contest. Who can buy the most ammo. There are some simple rules:
1) You have to pay for and take possession of the ammo on National Ammo Day.
2) The ammo must be in a caliber of firearm you currently own (buying firearms on National Ammo Day counts as currently own).
3) All state laws concerning ammo must be observed.
I propose four categories:
1) Rimfire
2) Centerfire
3) Shotgun
4) Components (counted as how many complete rounds you could make for instance if you buy 2000 primers but only 500 bullets, then it only counts as 500 bullets. However, if you have all of the components at home - including brass - and only need the 2000 primers, then that counts as 2000).
Everyone can self report either here at Jay's site or if you would like me to, I'll host the contest at my site.
MikeW, You need a valid Mass License to buy ammo. Most companies don't have the man power or the inclination to be 100% in compliance with Mass Law, so most ammo houses just say "No ammo shipped to private Mass residences"
That being said I'm still working through a case of 7.62x39, I have a good supply of 9x18mm, I've shot through a bunch of surplus spam-cans of 7.62x54R, and I don't think I've ever bought 7.62x25mm at a gun shop.
Add in bullets and primers I use to load up my ammo.
All of these were waiting on my doorstep when I got home from work various days.
Of course many places have been stung by our Attorney General for doing this, so I won't say where I made these orders.
We don't get the pick of the litter here, but we're not shut down just yet.
And of course if you have my personal email because you've shaken my hand at various blogger events you can send me an email and I'll supply you with my sources.
And I think I've told Jay where I get all my stuff (Jay if you may not know where I get my bullets and primers from...shoot me an email)
And despite the secrecy doing so is in violation of no state, local, or federal laws.
Nor would it be the least bit relevant even if it was, as ammo, primers, powder, bullets and such won't do jack shit without the gun to feed them (or at the least aren't any more dangerous than a gallon of 87 Octane regular) and to get there a prohibited person must break multiple state local and federal laws...what's one more law gonna do for those creeps?
I wish I could support National Ammo Day but that isn't going to happen. Other then shotgun there just isn't enough ammo available for me to buy to qualify for the minimum. The suppliers and retailers have quit even guessing when their ammunition stocks will be replentished. The last .22 CCI that I bought I paid 9 cents per round because I was so surprised to finally see any stock on the shelves, that is the supply and demand reality out here in Kalifornia. I have been waiting 6 weeks for an order of .22 from Sportsmans Guide. I honestly think that I could probably find someone who would sell me drugs before I could find 100 rounds for each of my firearms. It is to the point now that if any of my shooting buddies find a store with ammo they immediately get on the phone to see how much the rest of the group want them to buy. It has gotten worse then I ever expected, and the idiot new California ammunition buying law doesn't go into effect until next year (thank you Arnold). So for those of you who can support National Ammo Day please buy range quality stuff and go easy on the personal defence loads if you can, maybe some will trickle out west. Thanks anon jerry
