And the Lovefest Begins!

Key Kennedys endorsing Coakley

After weeks of remaining on the sidelines in the US Senate race, key members of the Kennedy family will throw their weight behind Attorney General Martha Coakley today, hoping to propel her into the seat long held by one of their own.

Coakley, who has not enjoyed a particularly close relationship with the family, is set to receive the blessing in Medford this morning of Victoria Reggie Kennedy, the widow of Edward M. Kennedy, as well as Joseph P. Kennedy II, a former congressman and the late senator’s nephew, who opted out of the race; and Senator Paul G. Kirk, a longtime Kennedy friend temporarily occupying the seat. Joseph Kennedy III, the former congressman’s son, will also endorse her.
I know this is a bit of a shock - Kennedys endorsing the Democrat running for Ted Kennedy's Senate seat is such a surprising turn of events, similar to, oh, the sun rising in the east - but try to keep your utterances of surprise to a minimum. I know, the cognitive dissonance of a Kennedy supporting the (D) running for a seat vacated by a Kennedy is jarring and all... What's next - John Effin' Kerry will endorse Coakley?

In the real world, this is a "dog bites man" story. In the "mainstream" media world, this is a last-ditch effort to prop up a lousy candidate using any and all means necessary. This is not a story, folks; this is barely a note in passing. *Yawn* The Kennedys endorsed Coakley. Water is wet. And yet the Boston media is all abuzz as though JFK came back from the dead to personally plant a wet one on Martha himself...

I'm sure the next shocking thing will be the Globe endorsing Coakley...

In an uncharacteristic display of fairness, I have to point out that this story was on the front page of the Globe this morning:

Guard service a key to candidate Brown

which is a pretty decent look at Lt. Colonel Brown's (GO SCOTT GO) military service for the past 30 years. Being the Boston Globe, they can't resist tossing in little digs like:

Though he has never been deployed to a war zone, he said his service provides perspective on national security issues.

As opposed to Martha Coakley's vast experience in national security issues? Or, for that matter, Barack 0bama, the current Commander-in-chief of the US Armed Forces. Scott Brown has a dumptruck more experience in national security than 0bama had before January of last year...

They close with this real knee-slapper of a teaser for their article on Coakley:

Tomorrow: Martha Coakley and child protection.
$50 says they don't include the phrase "We discourage self-help" or talk about the child molesters she declined to prosecute...

That is all.

What makes one a 'key' Kennedy? Not being in jail or on drugs? Let's hope these are the death throes of the Cult Of American Royalty. I can just see little Patrick running alongside Ms. Coakley, chanting 'remember thou art mortal.'

from http://biggovernment.com/2010/01/07/dodd-and-other-retiring-democrats-show-why-term-limits-are-a-bad-idea/

Voters in Colorado might not like the fact that voters in Massachusetts continually reelected a hypocritical, drunk, manslaughtering, liar to term after term after term, but that is their right. Massachusetts voters clearly have no shame, but under the constitution, they have the right to be greedy scum buckets interested only in the pork their clout can achieve.
(Our apologies to anyone in Mass who had the dignity and ethics to vote against Kennedy before death finally drove him from office)
...This guy () is talking to you Bro!

Actually the Globe is being surprisingly charitable to Scott Brown. IIRC Monday front page, was how he's closing the gap.

Wednesday was this story on Coakley's soft spot for kiddie diddlers, where they mentioned she was running for Senate in the 3rd Paragraph
http://weerdbeard.livejournal.com/613071.html

Now today the national Guard picture.

Honestly I'm rather shocked.

Bruce - LMAO!

JD,

I'm still putting my money on Coakley. If you remember back to 1994, they were saying the same thing about Mitt Romney, and he lost by ~ 15 points IIRC...

Paul,

I can't see Cadillac taking a subordinant role, I just can't...

I did hear an interesting theory, though, that he might pull a Ritter and decline to run for office. Dunno what kind of truth there is to that, but it'd be nice to get him the hell outta MA...

Toaster 802,

Not only have I voted against Dead Ted in every election I was able, I've campaigned for his opponent in the past three elections...

Weer'd,

Why do I hear Admiral Akbar here?

IT'S A TRAAAAAP!!!
