Another Blow from NH...

Actually, another blow lost from NH:

Wind knocked out of Mt. Washington record
New Hampshire’s Mount Washington has lost its distinction as the site of the highest wind gust ever recorded on Earth, officials at the Mount Washington Observatory said yesterday.

The concession came three days after the World Meteorological Organization posted a snippet on its website saying a panel of experts reviewing extreme weather and climate data turned up a 253-mile-per-hour gust on Australia’s Barrow Island during Cyclone Olivia in 1996.

Man, that's gotta play hell with the laundry on the line, eh?

That is all.

Yeah, but it took a hurricane to do it and a bunch of scientists studying the data to do it. Mt. Washington set it's record with a guy tied to the end of a rope. Which, I ask, is more awesome?

And I always liked telling people that the world's fastest wind was recorded in New Hampshire. The looks I would get.

Ah well.

Well, there used to be laundry on the line, now it's all over the county - but it's dry.

I might bet that that figure is actually 253 KPH rather than MPH.

came across your blog in a search of some political stuff; very enjoyable blog! With your love of guns and motorcycles, I figured I'd post real quick before I scoot off back on my internet search to let you know about something in New Hampshire called the Free State Project. Wasn't sure if you heard about it, but it's worth a google. Their Liberty Forum is coming up soon (in March) and it's the type of event you'll find a LOT of gun nuts and motorcycle people at - sorry if this sounds spammy, I really just figured you'd might wanna know about what options there are (former Cape Codder here, love Massachusetts, but made the move to NH.) Open carry is legal here in NH, among other things.
