Apt Analogy

Atom Smasher, co-blogger with MeatAxe over at Men Are Not Potatoes, hits one out of the park today:

"My Name Is Barack Obama, And I'm An Obamaholic." "Hi, Barack!"

Money quote:
But the prez is still convinced that it's something he ate. We're not rejecting his message because we've heard it and think it's awful, we're rejecting it because we're angry at President Bush, or we're mad at "fat cat bankers", or because we're just plain stupid.

Go read the whole thing in all its bloggy glory...

That is all.

During the first part of this decade the progressives were convinced that voters were rejecting them "because we aren't getting our message out". The more they pushed their agenda, the worse they did. They changed that in time for the 2006 elections, when they made major gains.

Then Barack started getting the message out and won. The belief was that the voters had finally figured it out and it was safe to be progressive again. The truth is that 2008 was a matter of "Bush fatigue" and the voters were ready to listen to anyone that wasn't a Republican.

That enticed the progressives to over reach on health care, the War Against the Islamofascists, the environment, the economy, well you get the idea.

Scott Brown's vote was a referendum on the entire progressive agenda, but once again the progressives think it's a matter of "leaning forward" and getting the message out. The more they do that, the worse they are going to do.
