East Boston cat called to jury duty
Someone is getting called for jury duty...but it's no human.
A family is trying to figure out how their pet cat was summonsed for jury duty.
Okay, someone misread the census. Apparently Sal the cat was listed under "Pets"; that's where they got the name for the juror pool. But wait - it gets better:
Anna filed for Sal’s disqualification of service. However, the jury commissioner was unmoved and denied the request.
Obviously the jury commissioner is hoping to try a case for felineoneous assault. Or a cat burgular. Maybe even a civil case for cat scratch fever...
That is all.
Thanks to alert reader Mikael for sending me this article!

Don't quit your day job there gunpowder.... :)
Is MA really part of the USA?
I don't know about MA, but the jury pool around here is pulled primarily from voter registration lists.
Perhaps they should check to see if their cat is registered to vote and, if so, whether it's a democrat or republican.
Acorn strikes again?
Of course the cat is a registered Democrat. And has voted regularly since registered. You know that, I know that, ACORN knows it.
My sister asked, "If Sal doesn't show for jury duty, will the Court send a dog officer to the house?" Seems reasonable to me.
