Welcome to Worcester...

Scott Brown went to Worcester, MA to campaign yesterday. While Martha Coakley enjoyed the star power of President Øbama at an elite college campus, Scott Brown brought in local celebs like Curt "Not a Yankees Fan" Schilling. Friends, bloggershoot attendees, and all-around good people Mopar and Mrs. Mopar drove up from CT to be at the rally, and were kind enough to offer up some pictures:

Inside Mechanic's Hall

Here's the view from inside Mechanic's Hall, where State Senator Brown spoke to a standing-room-only crowd of over 3,000 people.

On the Street

Here's the view from the street - scenes like this one repeated themselves for literally miles surrounding the rally. Folks stood shoulder-to-shoulder: Tea Party activists stood with fed-up union workers and GOP bluebloods alike to show their support for Scott Brown.

Thanks for the report and the pictures, guys! I owe you one at the next Blogger dinner...

The Boston Herald - who, by the way, endorses Brown - had an article on the rally:

Energized Brown mocks desperate Dems

GOP upstart state Sen. Scott Brown took aim at Democratic opponent Attorney General Martha Coakley’s presidential bailout this afternoon, telling a packed hall of rowdy supporters he would stay connected to them and not embrace Washington, D.C. insiders.

“They put in a distress call to Washington, and the next thing you know, Air Force One is landing at Logan,” Brown said of President Obama’s Boston visit today. “The party bosses gave the president some bad information. This Senate seat belongs to no one person and no one political party, it belongs to the people of Massachusetts.”

What I found most interesting was this particular line:

Tea Party activists Jeff McQueen drove from Michigan to join with other Tea Party activists to support Brown.

“It’s historic. If Brown wins this it stops the whole health care bill,” McQueen said.
Oddly enough, that's exactly what Coakley has been claiming in her negative attack ads. Now, remind me who's in the lead in the final days before the election. This is an excellent barometer of public sentiment on the health care bill - if Coakley gets in, it's a done deal. If Brown gets in, he's the 41st vote against...

Now if only Martha had taken Brown seriously longer than a week and a half before the election, she might not need Øbama to prop up her failing campaign...

GO SCOTT GO!!!

That is all.

Hey, the president was here stumping for Martha-Martha-Martha. But he had to leave, I guess some natural disaster just happened in Haiti or something.

Thank God our sooper-awesome president has his priorities straight. Can you imagine if the eebil BOOSH was in office? He would have campaigned for for his candidate before taking care of Haiti or something.

His election will have no effect on the health-care-control-of-the-proles bill vote. The progs/socs/ coms have already made it plain that they will delay seating him until AFTER any vote is taken.

Anon: Maybe not. Scott Brown does not need to be the 41st vote. He just needs to deny the dems their 60th vote. What I mean is a plausible reading of the 17th Amendment says that Paul Kirk's senate appointment ends when the election ends. So even if Brown wins and they delay seating him, Kirk will not be able to provide the 60th vote needed for cloture. Of course, after this was pointed out, the dems are now talking about using reconciliation, or getting the House to pass the Senate bill unamended so they don't need a revote.

Nice photos.

In other news, officials with the Massachusettes Attorney Generals Office, in cooperation with the Massachusettes State Fire Marshal, will seek criminal charges against Republican Scott Brown, stemming from the January 17 incident in Worcester, MA, that endangered the lives of over 3,000 people, including many children. From a statement released by Marcia Coakley, the Boston Globe reports, ".... a reckless and flagrant violation of Local and State Fire Codes, Republican Scott Brown, for his own selfish gains, thoughtlessly placed many lives in jeopardy by exceeding the maximum occupancy level allowed in Worcester at Mechanic's Hall. The death toll from an accident at this venue could easily have eclipsed the 492 deaths of the famous Cocoanut Grove Fire in Boston. In order to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth from the Republican Scott Brown, the Attorney General of Massachusettes, Marcia Coakley, will seek the maximum penalty in this case." It's for the children!
