But, But, But... That's DIFFERENT...

Remember when the left cried out, over and over again, that the Bush administration was questioning their patriotism*? How we were treated, ad nauseum to the tropism that "dissent is the highest form of patriotism"?

Yeah. Not so much now...

WH: Some Critics 'Serving the Goals of al Qaeda'
In an oped in USA Today, John Brennan -- Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism -- responds to critics of the Obama administration's counterterrorism policies by saying "Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda."

Brennan writes that, "Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill."

In the oped, titled "'We need no lectures': Administration disrupts terrorists’ plots, takes fight to them abroad," Brennan writes that politics "should never get in the way of national security. But too many in Washington are now misrepresenting the facts to score political points, instead of coming together to keep us safe."

You mean, like, "Bush lied, people died"? Misrepresenting facts like the continued program in Iraq to develop weapons of mass destruction being pooh-poohed, ignored, or outright denied? Things like that? Somewhere out there, Dick Cheney is laughing his ass off as he recalls how the whole "TEH CIA IS TORTURING TEH PORE TERRORISTS MISUNDERSTOOD NATIONALS" issue was NEVER used to "score political points", right?

It's not so much that the left is doing this - they're twisting something their opponents did for political gain, something that's been done ever since Oog went back on his proposal to stop using the club to whack Thag. It's that they're so pathetically transparent, using the very same words against their political opponents that they themselves used only a few short years ago.

Guys. There's this invention called "the internet". Perhaps you've heard of it? Al Gore invented it, you know. It maintains a running log of everything that's been posted on it for time immemorial. One can search on certain terms like "Bush Lied, People Died" to find quotes that illustrate what giant screaming hypocrites you bastards are...

I know consistency is too much to ask in one's political adversaries, but could you at least please be a little less cartoonish? Kthanxbai.

That is all.

*Null parameter. The left has no patriotism...

“We need no lectures” is actually correct – it’s the punctuation that’s wrong. It SHOULD read “We need ‘No’ lectures.” As in NO more taxes, NO more spending what we don’t have, NO more socialism, NO more Bu11$hit. And NO you can’t control everything, NO you can’t pass this-or-that ludicrous bill and especially NO YOU CAN’T GET RE-ELECTED!

The irony is in the Obama administration saying the same things the Bush administration did. Do you object to the idea or to who is using the idea? Who objects to the statement now that that agreed with it before?
