Ambulance Driver is going to be in the area and wonders if there'd be any interest in a blogmeet.
I told him I think we can pull something together; at the very least we should be able to arrange a dinner. There was discussion as to a shooting event as well, but given that it's New England in early March (and AD is such a delicate southern flower) on a weekday, well, we can play that one by ear. I don't mind burning a vacation day if we get enough folks interesting in hitting a range...
So here's the gist of it. He's in town from late afternoon Monday, March 1st through early morning Wednesday, March 3rd. Dinner would have to be Monday night, as I've got my Cub Scout leader's meeting on Tuesday night and, selfishly, don't want to miss dinner. Any sort of shooting event would have to be Tuesday, March 2nd during the day (9AM-3PM).
Dinner would most likely be somewhere in the metro Boston area; as nice as it would be to be able to hold it somewhere in NH given the time constraints and that most folks would be coming right after work it's better to have it near town. I'd prefer not to have to actually drive into Boston if I can avoid it (my insurance premiums will thank you); perhaps we can come up with a location in the Waltham/Woburn general area or thereabouts?
Let me know if you're interested, and we'll get a plan in place!
That is all.

Let's don't do Hilltop again, for their steak was teh suck. Other than that, I'm game.
AD you are FIRED!
Come when the weather is WARM dammit!
I'll be there, whenever if I'm in town.
Jay,
Lots of good restaurants on Moody Street in Waltham. There's even a decent BBQ place, but the name escapes me.

Okay, I'm in. Waltham is fine, Moody St works, but it has been so long since I was there, I am not familiar with the current line up. There is an Irish place on Main St that might work, too.
Will advise.
Have a look at The Mad Raven on Main St. -- appropriate for our demographic, I think.
Marko, no ragging on Jay about the Hilltop steak, he felt really bad!
And I'm coming from work in downtown Boston, so I would have voted for here, but I bow to the organizer of the event :) (Unless AD's never been to Fenway, in which case I'm going to suggest everyone else suck it up and we take him to the Cask 'n' Flagon!)
Not ragging on Jay; ragging on Hilltop. Didn't come for the food that night, anyway, and the company was just fine.
Watch City Brewing Company was a favorite when I lived a block off Moody St.
Marko, a fair point; I stand (sit) corrected. Will you treat us to squirrel stew??
Hmmmmmm. Watch City Brewing has a certain appeal, though I have not been there yet.
Any place is fine.
Brad is talking about Jake's in Waltham.

They're fucking awesome.
TOTWTYTR took me to a good seafood joint on the harbor when I was in your town, but y'all probably get tired of seafood.
That Jakes place might be interesting, even if you can't get cream gravy with the chicken livers. The BBQ is more pork than beef, but they get a thumbs up for knowing the correct spelling of "chili", and for not using beans in it.
Any ol' place is good, MA blogmeets would make Mcdonald's tolerable. Just figure it out soon, so I can get time off...
Allow me to again suggest Firefly's in either Marlborough or Framingham. Awesome BBQ; I've just never had a bad meal there, ever.
And gee... I seem to still have one of those little "Friends and family" cards that give a 10% discount on the food order on Monday & Tuesday nights...
And yes, I'm in. Even if I have to show up in a "herse" (word verification).
Marko, I take full responsibility for the Hilltop debacle. It USED to be great, and I was working on my not that old memories of it.
MB, that was Legal Seafood, which is a good place to eat, but is in Boston and might not be easy for some people to get to.
For those of you who don't know my friend Mule Breath. There are some things we disagree about, but I will never second guess his opinion on things Texas or BBQ.
I like Amhreins in South Boston. Despite being in Boston, it has free parking, a good menu, and is moderately priced. http://www.amrheinsboston.com/
Again, it's within the city, but something to consider.
If not in the city, I'd prefer something west of the city.

Hmmmm....they claim to be the Phantom Gourmet's highest rated BBQ joint in NE.
Isn't that like the highest rated clam shack in San Antonio?
Not that I have a vote, can't make it that night.
Count me in for now. . . just need to know where. . ..
Carrabbas in Peabody. Good food (Italian + grill), good service, a private room for loud crowds.
Regardless of where it is it'll be a drive for me so just let me know when & where. With my new flexible work schedule I can hopefully make it this time
