Think of ALL the energy it is saving. All that fossil fuel that we save by moving the clock forwards or backwards every six months. Al (save the iceburgs)Gore must be glad he thought of the idea.
I still think it is a plot by the battery manufacturers to convince you to buy more 9 volt batteries.
IIRC the whole idea of DST was started back during the depression to allow the farmers more time outside to work their crops. So 70 years later the .gov is still messing around with it. Gives a wonderful feeling about .gohealth-care.
Agg79, count the months, it's no longer changed every 6 months, we're up to 7 1/2 months of Daylight Savings Time and only 4 1/2 months of "Standard Time". We might as well give up and switch to all savings time all the time, except then someone will look at the times of sunrise and sunset in April, May, June, July and August and propose some "double savings time" or some such thing.

Open Invitation for New Shooters
Just want to extend an open invitation to all potential new shooters in the Northern Virginia area. If you have never shot a firearm, or would like to get back into the shooting sports, or are an accomplished shooter who'd like to try something in my arsenal, give me a shout.
New shooters get range time, targets, gun use and ammo on me. I've even got extra eye and ear protection - all you have to do is show up.

I didn't mind DST too much when it started the first weekend in April.
Mid-March, however, is too damn early. I LIKE having it light out when my alarm goes off. It helps me get going.
Snarl..shuffle.........gimme coffee....grrrrrr.....
Aw....have a beer.
Seconded on all counts.
Might have been necessary once upon a time, but now it is just an archaic, unnecessary remnant.
But, Jaaaaay,

LMAO! That reminds me...
Argh.

I'd be perfectly happy with UTC-4 year round. Daylight in the evening when I can have fun is better than daylight when I'm hopefully still sleeping.
