Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
That is all.

I hope the man gets filthy rich off of this.
Hoo boy... It's starting... and this is NOT good...
Any bets on how long it takes him to get his guns back? 6 mos, a year?
My vote would be "something approximating never", assuming he does not get the assistance of someone with the title of "Esquire". Undoubtedly, paperwork errors, misfilings, losses, and other such "clerical errors" will get between him and his private property.
And that is exactly what is at stake here - from all appearances, his local police department robbed him of his private property, for no better reason than rumor and guesswork. It is well past time for him to lawyer up (assuming he can afford it, and, if not, I am quite sure he can find a lawyer willing to make a name for himself on what appears to be a surprisingly cut-and-dried case) and take some people to task for their incompetence and probably unlawful actions.
I don't know that I could be more troubled with this story, Jay. I guess I'll have to wait for the ending.
I can't wait to hear from everyone who said "there has to be more we don't know. They just wouldn't do this, otherwise".
ROTFLMAO
I hear that Oregon has pretty decent gun laws. This smells like it's being run from Washington D.C.
That said, Portland seems to be run by loonies, but it's not all that big an area. But it would suck for him if he were there.
The more that comes out about this, the stranger it becomes.
Damn straight. Cops often do weird and power-abusive things, but they're rarely this blatant about it.
His firearms were returned on Thursday after he contacted the police department.
