Something to Prove...

Was given the green light to work from home today. Things have been pretty hectic in the office the past few, well, months, and we've got a tight deadline coming up for a big project. I've been given the (rare) okay to work from home, with the sole proviso that I focus only on the big project and nothing else (i.e. no phones, e-mails, customers, etc.). Boss has said that if significant progress is made, future work from home is a distinct possibility, and I intend to make that happen.

I've already faced my biggest challenge of the day - what caliber for "Open Carry at the (Home) Office" (heh) - I've got some vintage Van Halen playing on the home stereo (at moderate to ear-splitting volume), and the coffee is fresh and strong. I've already gotten more done on The Big Project in the past hour than I've gotten done in any given two days in the office. I've got a very good feeling about this...

This may very well be the best Friday (at work) EVAH.

That is all.

You know what the best part of working at home is?

The lack of pants doesn't creep out your boss!

Heh. Too cold to go without pants here.

Besides, if I didn't have pants on, my Office Open Carry piece would fall to the floor...

I find that I frequently can't get any work done when I'm at work.

In my all-time favorite Dilbert cartoon, he's telecommuting and wonders if he owes his boss a full eight-hour day or just the three hours he would have been productive in the office!

If that's the case then my day is almost over now...

Hell, given what I've been able to get done just in 2.5 hours, I'm CRANKING over actually being *in* the office...

That's AWESOME, Jay! Congrats, and I hope you get to do this more often. It's amazing what being comfortable can do to one's productivity.
