Tactical Pants... On Film!

This is what happens when you get a crazy idea...

Granted, the two-gun carry isn't exactly practical, but since when has practical ever entered into the equation? A single CCW piece with a pair of reloads is trivially easy to conceal and carry with the 5.11 covert series - especially a slim, light semi-auto like the P3AT/LCP/PM9. The biggest problem I had - which you can see in the video - is that the small Kel-Tec mags have a tendency to slide down into the pocket a little too far to be quickly retrieved. Also, the Bianchi speed strips didn't fit in the little pouch inside the pocket.

Wearing these pants and carrying a concealed firearm all day long is a breeze. The zippered pockets give piece of mind that no one will catch a glimpse of a pistol butt should you lean over the wrong way; the concealment is superb and access is rapid. The side pockets keep the rest of your gear well-separated from the firearm, so that there's no risk of something inadvertently getting in the trigger guard.

All in all, it's an excellent design.

That is all.

That J-frame was printing so badly that even my eyes could spot it from the very first glance.

Are you using a pocket holster at all? If not, get one! Not only does it help break up the outline, it helps keep the thing properly oriented so you can find it when you want to.

And if you are carrying your reloads in the same pocket, it reduces the chance of something getting into the trigger guard. (No, having reloads in little pouches within the same pocket is not "as safe as" having them in a different pocket.)

stay safe.

Mark,

Both the J-frame and the P3AT were in Desantis Nemesis holsters; in the case of the J-frame the reloads were in separate pockets (there's an outside pocket where the reloads were and a zippered inside pocket where the firearm was). Your point is excellent - if you're going to pocket carry, do not carry anything else in that pocket and use a holster.

I would have taken the holster out except the Nemesis is so darn sticky that it ate up too much time (I tried...) :)

Under normal (read: not stuffed to the brim for a video) conditions the J-frame disappears in the pocket.

Yeah, but there's no female equivalent of these pants so I have to rely on my Tactical Purse (or turse).

@midwest chick, sure there is! there are several women's tactical pants on the market and 5.11 offers three different styles specifically for women.

Now, I can't attest any will fit properly. I hear a lot of women actually wear the men's pant anyway.

P.S. Great video!! Will definitely be posting that on the TPB.
