Friday Gun Pr0n #168

Heh. The eagle-eyed gunnie will notice this one right away. It's a recent acquisition, but it looks just a little bit different...

Is That What I Think It Is?

Yes, that's my new-to-me (but only two years younger than me!) Ruger 10/22. She's sporting a Butler Creek folding stock thanks to reader Tim in Seattle (thanks Tim!!!) along with a UTG red dot sight from MidwayUSA (sighted in at my range to be able to hit a 2.5" steel spinner at 25 yards) and a pre-ban (ugh) high-capacity magazine. It's the start of something tacticool, but it's certainly not the end...

I'm thinking about getting one of the ARS stocks for the 10/22 - if for no other reason than I can put a bayonet on the Ruger. Having the adjustable stock will be quite handy for taking new shooters to the range, allowing the rifle to be customized to the shooter no matter their size or reach. And it's got rails. Lots and lots of rails.

Ruger 10/22: It's like a blank canvas...

That is all.

You do realize that you have the makings for a perfect LTR (Liberty Training Rifle)? Hie thee to an Appleseed event and you will be hitting a 1" plate at 25 yards, not 2.5". Good fun and good for you...

Filling out paper and paying my $ for a suppressed 10/22 today (ordered it from the builder last night)... because in Idaho "yes I can".

Bill H.,

Don't know if this is still the case, but at one time the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) were using scoped & suppressed 10/22's as a means of 'knee-capping' bad guys. My understanding is that the tactic was quite effective.

Looks good, Jay!

I too have a 10/22 with the BC folding stock. I've found, quite by accident, that it makes a handy stand-in for my AK. the LOP is about the same, the sight radius is about the same, and with the extended mag release, mag changes are alomst the same as well. 7 years after I bought the gun, it's gone from a beer can puncher and squirrel slayer to a mighty handy training tool.

Yeah, but the Archangel stock set has a PLASTIC muzzle device and bayonet.

I think you could add a flashhider (pinned by the front sight) and one of the barrel clamped bayonet lugs for an AR, and mount an M7 or M9 bayonet.

Brad, the NFA manufacturer I'm buying from also makes a pretty little 12" Mossberg 12 guage, which I think would make a _perfect_ zombie kneecapper. Don't need the quiet, or the accuracy for zombies, or so I'm told.
