Wilkerson to enter guilty plea
Dianne Wilkerson, a former state senator from Boston who was once considered a rising political star in Democratic politics, plans to plead guilty today to charges in a federal corruption case, averting a high-profile trial that was scheduled to start later this month.“There will be a plea tomorrow,’’ her lawyer, Max D. Stern of Boston, said yesterday. “I cannot tell you anything else.’’
Stern declined to say what charge or charges Wilkerson will plead guilty to in the agreement with federal prosecutors at the 2 p.m. hearing before US District Court Judge Douglas P. Woodlock, nor would he say whether she will be sentenced to prison.
This is, quite frankly, astonishing. It would be interesting to see just what kind of evidence they presented to change Wilkerson's mind so dramatically - remember her pledge to "fight on"? Between the obligatory charges of ZOMG RACISM and the entrenched MA pol mindset, they must have had some serious evidence to use against her in court. Considering that she's up on some 32 charges - each with a potential jail sentence of 20 years - they must have had an airtight case against her...
One down, many many more corrupt MA pols to go...
That is all.

I heard they had something like 150 tape recordings of her doing what she does best.
If she starts naming names to get a reduced sentence, it's serious PASS THE POPCORN time!
I'm amazed... I figured the administration would let her go...
I'm starting to think that it would be a worthwhile tax-payer investment to simply fortify the State House and station guards, and build a new capital.
also I'm 100% with Bruce, not just on this, but all the other political corruption cases in the mix (Blagovitch *not gonna bother looking up how to spell that asshole's name*, and Sestak come to mind)
I wanna see these creeps drop the dime on the BIG players to save their wretched hides!
Lot's of evidence and I'd expect that she doesn't have a ton of money for lawyers. The good ones don't come cheap and don't need the publicity of a high profile case to bring in new clients so the won't work for free.
Will she flip? Could be, but the judge seemed inclined to give her more time, not less.
