Speaking of Gun Bans...

It doesn't appear that England's is working out entirely as they expected...

Gunman Derrick Bird found dead after shooting spree in northern England

POLICE have found the body of a cab-driver suspected of killing at least ten people in a three-and-a-half hour shooting spree in northern England.

Derrick Bird, 52, was found in woodland near Boot, Cumbria, by police. He had shot himself, sources said.

Witnesses described horrific scenes of the gunman shooting his victims in the head at point-blank range.

He was using a shotgun, which is one of the few remaining firearms still legal in England. Here's a little quiz.

Which is more likely to happen:

a) England realizes that by allowing its citizens to go armed, they might be able to stop these attacks sooner;

or

b) England passes even stricter gun control laws banning even single-shot shotguns
If you pick "a", I applaud your optimism...

That is all.

UPDATE: Apparently Tam saw the same story, and has her own excellent take on the matter.

YOU may applaud their optimism. *I'd* ask for a share of whatever they're drinking.

Actually we have a new government - unlike than the bunch of knee-jerking urbanites we had in government for the past decade, they will actually be spending time thinking of how to react. Hopefully they'll put more money into the police (who took 3 hours to respond, by which time the guy killed himself) and/or the NHS (who turned him away when he asked for help with his mental illness).

They're in a coalition with an anti-gun party though, so I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen. We're definitely not going to get any looser gun control any time soon though. :(
