Doctor: Released Lockerbie bomber could live much longer
A British cancer expert who said the man convicted in the 1988 plane bombing over Scotland had about three months to live before the prisoner's release last year now says the Libyan could survive another decade or more.
Dr. Karol Sikora told The Sunday Times that Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi – whom Scotland's government released on compassionate grounds in August after being diagnosed with prostate cancer - could live another 10 or even 20 years.
Oopsie! Somehow that three months magically turned into a couple of decades - after he was allowed to go free. What are the odds there? I mean, I knew British health care was bad, but I had no idea it paled in comparison to the Libyan powerhouse medical system... A more cynical person would think that this had something to do with it:
Since al Megrahi's release, the British and Scottish governments have denied allegations he was let go to clear the way for British oil deals with Libya.
Now, see, a real "news" outlet would have done a little digging on the state of "British oil deals with Libya" post-release. I'm certain that there have been no sweetheart deals cut too Great Britain after releasing a terrorist, right? Now, granted, things may run differently in the UK, where there is no Freedom of Information Act to force the .gov to release said oil figures, but it would still make for some interesting "journalism" to find out if there were any extra shipments after al Megrahi was released...
In any case, it's clear that in the British Isles, "justice" is merely a word in the dictionary between "appeasement" and "terrorist"...
That is all.

Personally I couldn't agree more - clearly this one smells.
But it's worth mentioning that there is a Freedom of Information Act in the UK - just that it's fairly toothless in comparison to yours.

This just in, a message from Libya.

Actually, there is a Freedom of Information act in the UK. However, as came out in the "Climategate" emails story, there is a rather short statute of limitations, and if you just stonewall until it passes, you're home free.
