A Weighty Issue...

Zercool discusses what various carry pieces weigh.

It's an interesting discussion of various carry set-ups (pro-tip for next time, Z - add in the carry rig as well, those leather rigs are nice but add heft) with pictorial evidence of the literal weight we assume when we carry a firearm. There's a reason that this is with me at all times - at under a pound loaded with holster, it's not a lot of weight to be carrying around for a defensive arm. Oh, sure, .380ACP is pretty marginal for a defensive round, and the P3AT is a difficult gun to shoot well, but at 10 feet it gets the job done and at 11 ounces it's always there.

Shorter: the .380 in your pocket beats the .45 in the safe any day of the week...

That is all.

Pro tip (and link love!) much appreciated!

I actually did consider tossing holsters in, but didn't because at this time, the only proper holsters I have are for the 1911 and the 642. The 242 is patiently waiting in the safe for an IWB rig to arrive, and I just ordered a high-ride belt rig for the 5496/4053.

Much as it displeases me to admit it, the 4053 is riding in an Uncle Mike's cheap-ass IWB right now.

How'd you get a P3AT in this state?! As far as I can tell (since they're not on "the list") they've never been legal for purchase in MA.

Long time lurker, first time commenter. Love your blog. I'm stuck in MA as well. Thanks for doing what you do!

J,

Private sale.

Off-list guns are not illegal to *own*, just to buy from a dealer.

If one makes its way into the state - like from someone moving in from out of state - it can be sold. Look for them at a premium, though.

If you go over to the Northeastshooters forum (linked in my sidebar), there are at least 2 or 3 for sale (for $400 - $500!!!).

Yep, gotta agree there, boss. I have literally forgotten that I was carrying the KelTec a couple of times until reminded by the security guard that no weapons were allowed in the plant, ooops...
