Man convicted of killing Boston cop faces new charges

CRANSTON, R.I. — A man who spent 15 years in prison for killing a Boston police officer is in trouble again for allegedly fleeing a traffic stop in Rhode Island. Cranston police say 47-year-old Terrell Muhammad was arrested over the weekend after officers staked out his home. Police chased him through city streets on Friday after he fled a traffic stop after running a stop sign. He allegedly pointed his car at cruisers. Officers eventually broke off pursuit.

Massachusetts: Releasing all the violent criminals other states would normally keep locked up.

Read that again. He killed a police officer and only spent 15 years in jail. Reading the comments, it appears that Muhammad shot the officer during an escape attempt and was convicted of manslaughter. Manslaughter. He grabbed a cop's gun and shot him in the chest with it - that's second degree murder at the very least, and I'd wager a strong case could be made for first degree. And in the state of MA, he served the same length of time that I would spend if I brought home three new P-mags for my Bushmaster from the bloggershoot...

I wonder exactly what someone would have to do to receive an honest-to-goodness life sentence in MA? Kill the pope? Bomb the John Hancock building? Exactly what offense would get someone arrested, tried, and convicted to a prison sentence of life without parole? You've got to wonder - someone so violent as to wrestle a cop's gun away from him and kill him with it in an escape attempt only gets 15 years, just what the hell is needed for life? I'm guessing trespassing on John Kerry's new yacht might qualify...

MA: You're more likely to skate for violent crime here - but don't you dare put a collapsing stock on a new AR-15.

That is all.

Muhammed was sentenced to 26-30 years, but only did 15 years.

I think it's likely that he was indicted for Second Degree Murder, but that the jury convicted him of the lesser, included charge of Voluntary Manslaughter. Either way, Muhammed should have spent a lot more time in prison.

Actually, he should have been put to death, but that doesn't happen in MA.

I think you would have to produce the evidence that the Kennedy Assassination was an inside job, funded by Joe and Honey Fitz.

Or, you know, actually USING your high-cap gun to commit mayhem upon one of the fine upstanding members of the ruling class...

He killed someone while escaping from prison? Execution should be the only possible sentence after that.

If being in prison won't stop someone from killing, they need to be permanently removed from life.

Something similar happened here, and that cockroach is now waiting for his needle. The only delay is that they want him to testify in his brother's defense, who is on trial for his part in the escape.
