It's Not Just Massachusetts...

Rhode Island appears to be soft as a sneaker full of shit when it comes to violent criminals...

Cop killer scores low bail in chase case
A twice-convicted killer who served time for gunning down a Hub police officer and store clerk in separate incidents is being held on a mere $5,000 cash bail on charges he tried to mow down cops in Rhode Island, authorities said.

Kent County Superior Court Judge Edward J. Clifton set bail for Terrell Muhammad, 47, at $2,500 each on separate accusations he violated his probation and attempted to run down two officers during a chase last Friday, an official said.

That's $2,500 for trying to kill two police officers, folks. We have a goblin with TWO PRIOR INCARCERATIONS for murder here as well as numerous other crimes, and he's let out of jail on bond for less than most people pay for OUI. Exactly what message are we sending here? Go ahead, do whatever the hell you want, we won't inconvenience your criminals ways with something as trivial as jail time?

Once again, I am forced to point out that YET AGAIN we have ANOTHER failure of our "justice" system. We have a violent criminal; someone who has killed twice before and goes before a judge for a third attempt and is slapped on the wrist. He's let out on ridiculously low bail given his previous criminal record and the crimes for which he stands accused; and yet we "take the law into our own hands" when one of these dirtbags meets an armed citizen? To hell with that.

Unless and until the "justice" system stops coddling violent criminals; unless and until we get serious about excising these cancers from our society; unless and until we start putting these goblins away for life and keeping them there, we are going to see more and more of the above. When the criminals know that they'll be back on the street by nightfall after trying to kill two cops, what possible incentive do they have to remain on the side of the law-abiding? NONE. They will only be emboldened by the egregious failures of our justice system to protect the good from the evil.

This is where the armed citizen comes in.

When the legal system cannot - will not - protect us from those who would disregard our laws, it becomes readily apparent that we are the only ones that stand between the ghouls who break laws with abandon and anarchy and the rest of society. Rather than being the "vigilantes" that the media accuses us of being, we are the very last line of defense against those that go "bump in the night"; against the soulless, lawless criminals that would no sooner kill you as look at you. Only the shotgun in the hands of the homeowner or the Glock in the hand of the CCW holder keep these wolves at bay; where our legal system fails miserably, the armed citizen steps in.

Carry your guns - evil walks among us, aided and abetted by our "justice" system.

That is all.

I'm starting to get annoyed at the sheriff's department here. They are the only thing between me and my CHP, and they are taking frikken' forever.

I guess I should add that your stories do not help my appreciation for the cops in any way.

I understand and share your frustration. However, I am somewhat taken aback at the nearness of your rant to an outright encouragement of the populous to go out and deal with these problems "on their own".

I know you do not condone or advocate fot vigilantism, but this time you have come closer than ever before. Maybe a nice cup of camomile tea?

stay safe.

skidmark,

I can understand where you could get that impression, but let me assure you that is not my point at all.

I just mean for folks who own and carry guns to be ever watchful, to train with their guns, and above all, to have their guns with them at all times.

With the state incapable or unwilling to keep even the worst goblins in prison for very long, we can no longer count on the state to remove violent predators from the general population. At best, the state will remove them for a short period of time, then release them as soon as possible.

It falls on us, then, to be ready and able to defend ourselves when - not if - one of these violent thugs chooses to attack.

I do not advocate any taking the law into their own hands - I do advocate being prepared for and ready to engage any such incursion against one's self or one's loved ones.

That is all.

You need to give us some warning before we just read the posting, J!
Where was the rage-o-meter I've so come to rely upon?

It was apparent halfway through that I had forgotten to take my lisinopril today, and that's not a good thing for us AZ residents.

Have a great day, I can't wait for the next dead goblin count post.
