Oh Hell Yeah...

This link was sent to me by reader Jeff in OR with the introduction of:
"Struck me as something you might like"
Motoring enthusiast builds 367mph bus

The yellow American-style school bus has been fitted with a jet engine from a Phantom fighter plane, allowing it to reach up to 367mph.

Paul Stender and his team from Indy Boys Inc, based in Indianapolis, USA adapted the bus which uses a full tank of 150 gallons of fuel in just one quarter-mile run.

Like it? I love it! First off, it's a jet-powered school bus. Secondly, any vehicle that can achieve speeds of over 350 MPH is pretty damned cool in my book. Third, it's a jet-powered school bus. Fourth, it has a fuel economy of 600 GALLONS PER MILE. This is the anti-Gore. And lastly, did I mention it's a jet-powered school bus???

Just starting it up makes hippies cry - and for that, Paul Stender, I salute you!

That is all.

"Daddy, daddy, I'm going to miss the bus! Hurry!" FAH-WOOOOOOOSH!

"Daddy! He didn't stop!"

Man, I'd LOVE to go to school on that thing!

My Cousin saw at a drag race a funnycar built inside a bus frame. Most of the bus was hollowed out and the driver was in the back with the engine in a roll cage.

I guess it did a wheelie the whole way down the 1/4 mile!

Weer'd: The wheelstander is Ken Nelson's "Cool Bus" which has been making the rounds since the 1990s. He wrecked it last year in Texas, but I'm pretty sure he is back on the circut this year.

You might also like Shortcut High. When I saw it years and years ago down at the big Wildwood, NJ boardwalk cruise it was known as "Lo-Life High". Guess he changed the name to makde it a little more PC.

Thanks for the article, I read it to Paul as we are driving the rig-jet bus is on the trailer, up to Canada. He laughed at the part about making hippies cry. Paul does love his carbon footprint!

Jay, he is currently scheduled to be at the 2010 Westfield, MA International Airshow (http://www.westfieldairshow.net) in a couple of weeks, while per haps not as good (appears to be fewer WWII planes and little or no foreign active military planes) as some in the past there, it still looks to be good show.

Think how much fuel a Phantom uses, having 2 of those engines, weighing 50,000 pounds, and going twice the speed of sound.
