The Burning Question...

D'ya think we can get that Jet Blue flight attendant to help with the burning of the Koran? Perhaps "Kate Plus Eight" could watch the event with Snooki and Lady Gaga. About the only way that this whole sordid situation could get more surreal would be if Dick Clark emceed the event, '80s style, with a countdown ball and everything. Burn, baby, burn - Koran inferno!

So much attention is being paid to something so tiny, it positively boggles the mind. The "church" boasts a membership of something like 50 people. I think we had close to 30 people at the last Northeast Bloggershoot. We shot up a crappy Tom Clancy novel - should we have gotten a call from the President begging us not to go through with it?

The solution is quite simple - turn off the media klieg lights and this punk will shrivel up faster than an erection after exposure to pictures of Nancy Pelosi...

That is all.

Which novel?

Actually, the Clancy novel (Sum of All Fears) was the second book to fall victim to reactive target status. The first, Lissa tells me, was a copy of the forgettable "Jurassic Park: Lost World"...

If only the media knew how much I don't care about this whole issue...

I've shot Bibles before. Not to protest Christianity, but because they were old, worn out and it seemed like such a waste to throw out a book that could be shot. The Word of God doesn't stop 7.62x54R. Of course the hardcover cookbook I took out to the range didn't either.

I though SoaF was halfway decent as a book. Now, if you were talking about a DVD of one of the abortions that Hollywood produced of his books, then I'd be right there on the firing line with you.

Robert, I have *another* copy of Sum of All Fears and have read it WAY too many times. The hard cover was cheap at Goodwill and thick enough to make interesting bullet fodder, was all :)

Oh -- and I refuse to watch the Clancy movies. Including Hunt for Red October. Sorry, can't do it.

Yes, the movies do no justice to the books. Of course if one of his major books was made faithfully into a movie it would have to be a two week miniseries.

The movie of HfRO set a (rather low) bar that the rest cheerfully limbo'd under.

As for the books, SoaF was more fantastic than most, I will admit.

WV: wored - how to describe being bored bya book
