Breaking News in MA...

This is my congressman, BTW. I have met, and fully support, his opponent, Bill Hudak. In the interest of full disclosure and all that...

Congressman Tierney's wife to plead guilty to tax charges
The wife of US Representative John F. Tierney is poised to plead guilty tomorrow to federal tax charges for managing a bank account that her brother allegedly used to deposit millions of dollars in illegal gambling profits he raked in from an offshore sports betting operation in Antigua.

Patrice Tierney, 59, who is married to the Salem Democrat, is charged with four counts of aiding and abetting the filing of false tax returns by her brother, Robert Eremian, of St. John’s, Antigua.

The Tierney campaign is throwing the brother completely under the bus. He is accused of "betraying" his sister - as though the sudden influx of millions of dollars from an offshore holding corporation could appear anything but suspicious. It defies credibility that this woman saw her brother leave the United States, set up shop in Antigua, and start funneling millions of dollars through it and not question it even once. Even for a MA Democrat this is pretty brazen.

Look for this story to rapidly drop off the front page - it's a sure bet that's the reason she's pleading out rather than fighting. With the guilty plea, any further stories about Mrs. Tierney will be spun as being dragged out for political gain and can be spun to drum up support for Tierney himself. With her guilty plea, any further usage of this issue by Hudak will be spun - by Tierney and his supporters in the press - as tarring him with his family's tainted brush.

Oh, and one last thing: Tierney voted against the bill banning online gambling - and now we know why...

That is all.

Thanks to PISSED for bringing this to my attention!

And she got a slap on the wrists for it. Also kinda interesting that her Brother got the OK to leave the country for an internet scam safehaven. (and likely he'll never get prosecuted for his crimes)

Couldn't have had ANYTHING to do with His brother in law being a sitting Congressman...nahhhh!
