Because as it stands, this wins the all-time prize for "Story Most Likely to Make Jay Break Something"...
School Makes Boy Take American Flag Off Bike
What's the over/under on:
a) There being an actual complaint as opposed to some overzealous anti-American f**kwad administrator just wanting to jerk some poor kid around;
b) If there is an actual complaint, whether the student in question is the child of illegal aliens - or illegal themselves;
or
c) The ACLU championing this boy's right to express himself by flying the American flag?
Yeah, I think we know the answer to that one...
That is all.

School Makes Boy Take American Flag Off Bike
DENAIR - 13-year-old Cody Alicea rides with an American flag on the back of his bike. He says he does this to be patriotic and to honor veterans, like his own grandfather, Robert. He's had the flag on his bike for two months but Monday, was asked told to take it down.Does this school not fly an American flag on the property? Do they allow students to fly "[insert other country/nationality/heritage/orientation] pride" type flags? Do they ban all other possible avenues of personal expression? Do they take Federal money? Because if that were my kid sent home for flying an American flag, you had damn well better believe I would be in front of the school board at the next meeting demanding they return all federal funds...
A school official at Denair Middle School told Cody some students had been complaining about the flag and it was no longer allowed on school property.

At least the school supervisor back tracked. My question is: why can't they guarantee the safety of someone who flies the American Flag? If he was jumped, that should be a hate crime against an American, and after determining legal status they should be dealt with accordingly.

For those looking for new pen pals, the email address of Denair Middle School Principal Aaron Delworth is adelworth@dusd.k12.ca.us — or give the school a call at (209) 632-2510, Fax (209) 634-0269.
Go gett'em Jay...

They were in every classroom when I was in school. Surely I'm not that old yet?
They're worried about an American flag causing racial issues? WHAT THE FUCK?
On C), the ACLU has defended flag-bearing before.
Didn't seem to come to a lawsuit in that one - probably because the district backed down.
The ACLU does pretty well with defending expressive conduct speech, no matter which "side" it's on.
(I just wish they'd stop pretending to be for ALL civil liberties.)
Questions: On Election Day, did they prevent little American Flags from being placed by the Voting Entrance? Have they removed the American Flag from flying in front of the school? Do they force the Teachers and Staff to remove Flag Decals off their Vehicles? Have they cut pictures of the Flag out of textbooks, almanacs, encyclopedias, etc in the school Library?
If the answer is NO to any of the above, I believe it's time for that School District's residents to "Town Hall" the next BOE meeting and demand that the STUPID FRACKIN' COMMIE IDIOT who pulled this stuff resign NOW!
Saw this.
Posted on it.
Is a big pile of smelly fail!!!
When I attended that school, there was an American flag in every classroom. I moved away due to work and was actually considering moving back. It's sad, really, when the old adage that you can't go home again smacks you right in the face. I guess I have to just keep working on the plan to escape California entirely...
