Yeah!

Chilean miner to compete in New York City Marathon
New York (CNN) -- Less than one month after being rescued, one of the now-famous Chilean miners will compete in the New York City Marathon Sunday, according to Mary Wittenberg, president of the New York City Road Runners Club.

Edison Pena, 34, was originally invited by the club, which organizes the annual marathon, to attend the event as a spectator. But Pena insisted on running in the 26.2-mile marathon, Wittenberg said.

That's impressive, right there. Pena was known as "the runner" in the mine for jogging various tunnels to keep in shape, and apparently kept himself in decent running shape to compete in NY. My hat's off to any long-distance runners; I can jog maybe 10 miles before I have to pack it in (most likely calling a cab to get me home), but to run for 26.2 miles takes stamina and reserves most of us will never know. Doing it after more than two months underground is even more amazing.

Just thought it was a really cool story, and to show that it's not all doom-and-gloom here at MArooned...

That is all.

Why run for 26.2-miles when I can walk it easily inside of a day and never once feel like I'm dying...
