Gotta Love Small Towns...

Because even in MA, you still see scenes like this:

PC idiocy hasn't reached us yet. No one's complained about the egregious violation of the ZOMG SEPARATION OF TEH CHURCH AND TEH STATE that's occurring in this picture. Folks realize that having Santa drive around the town is a net positive - it puts the Fire Department in a very good light and generates good will for the town. Plus the kids love it - BabyGirl G. was so excited she ran outside in her bare feet - in 20ºF weather!

And in four days he'll be arriving at Casa del G. for at least one more visit... Merry Christmas!

That is all.

We do this every year too - we have a sleigh on a trailer that we tow behind one of the trucks with the other truck running point about 300 yards ahead with lights and sirens to let all the kids know that Santa's coming up the street. We stop for every kid and Santa hands them a candy cane.

I haven't been Santa yet (the Assistant Chief won't give it up!) but driving the lead truck and seeing the kids smiles and wide open eyes in the window is awesome!

One of the many nice things about living in a small town!

I see no problem with them driving Santa around. Now, if it was somebody dressed up as Hay-soos with a big cross mounted on the truck then I'd have a problem.

We still have the fire trucks follow the school buses, sirens blaring, after a big win. Pretty cool.
