DUDE! That is a killer deal! I'll take three!

I'm still not a big fan of gold and ivory on my guns. The engraving looks nice though.

I'm gonna guess around $6,500 or so, given the etch work on the slide, the nice grips, and the fact that its a Colt and most probably a tack-driver too boot...

Did I win it?!

Yeah, just hoping you buy it so Cher doesn't sell MY truck so she can buy it.

Followed the link. All I can say is..."(blink, blink...blink, blink) Did I see that right?"

Actually, there's a lot more I could say starting with "WHY FOR THE LOVE ALL THAT IS HOLY WOULD ANYONE PAY THAT MUCH FOR A FIREARM THEY WILL PROBABLY NEVER SHOOT?"

Also neat:
"the high bidder will be invited to visit the Colt Factory in Hartford, Connecticut on March 29, 2011-the official 100th Anniversary of the U.S. Army's approval of the 1911 as the U.S. Army sidearm. Winner will be given a private tour of the factory, will have lunch with Colt Management, receive a package of special Colt logo items and collectibles and will have photos taken with the Colt engravers. During this visit, the high bidder will visit the Colt Historical Department and will be presented with an official document authenticated his Colt as the one and only 100th Anniversary 1911 featured as the 2011 SHOT Show gun and featuring the historic 1911COLT2011 Serial number. And to top off this special package, the high bidder will have the opportunity to have his or her initials engraved on spare mainspring housing as a keepsake or to have installed on their 1911. Hotel and travel included"

Is it MA compliant? Got to be something about the ivory grips that make it illegal. Maybe even the engraving, could it be offensive to anyone? Has this pistol been dropped from 375' to make sure there is no unwanted discharge? Martha, MARTHA you need to check this out!!

I think it is an awesome looking gun!

I'll take it even if I have to sell Mopar's truck to get it!

I hope that is preban ivory :)

I am stunned at the high bids so far. I've seen my share of high priced 1911s, but this is fetching more than I've seen US&S and Singer 1911s sell for.

But the high end gun market is unbelievably crazy.

And all this time I thought Kimber's were expensive...

They're on the clearance rack compared to this...

Well, considering the official 100th year anniversary NIB 1911's are going in the neighborhood of $3500...then this ONE OF A KIND SUPER DUPER oh sorry ...I was shouting....doesn't seem to be too out of line.

I work about 10 miles from the National Shooting Sports Foundation offices (SAAMI is also located there). I wonder if I show up there they'll let me fondle and drool on it?

Know what i'm getting if i win the lotto megadraw on the 31st. That is one sweet gun.

Just shown it to Miss 9 and when I told her the price she said she would want to test fire it before bidding!

Trying to explain to her that the gun will probably never be shot was difficult. She just couldn't understand that you could own a gun and not fire it.

(PS she's reading this as I type)
