The *Second* One Hundred...

Police: Woman Wrestles Gun From Teen Robber, Shoots Him
MUNHALL, Pa. -- Police said a teenager was trying to rob a woman in Munhall when he was shot and killed early Friday morning.

Dwayne Heath Jr., 17, was killed at about 12:15 a.m. at the intersection of Munn and Ravine streets, police said.

Police said the unidentified woman wrestled the gun away from Heath and shot him.
Remember, you're more likely to have your gun taken away and used against you... If you're a clueless goblin, that is... Now, granted, we're relying on a newsblurb here, and who knows what actually happened, but we'll assume for the sake of argument that since the woman's name was not released, the police feel that she was in the right. And damn, when that goblin gets to goblin hell, he's gonna get one hell of a ribbing. "Shot with your own gun? DUUUDE!"

Dead Goblin Count: 101

That is all.

The learning here is to draw and fire from far enough back that the bad guy can't grab the gun.

If you're in close and you pull a gun and start waving it in someone's face to try to scare them into compliance, well, #101 can tell you how that works out.

Money quote:

“It makes me want to go out and buy a gun and protect myself,” said Munhall resident Michael Orr.

Hopefully this sort of thing will make Ed Rendell drop into some sort of PSH and go all apoplectic and what not, given that one of his subjects DARE to desire to be armed.

and obligatory "choir boy" quote:

Heath’s father talked to WPXI after hearing the news of his son’s death.

“He was very family-oriented,” said Dwayne Heath Sr. “He loved to be around his siblings.”

they missed.. "aspiring rap star" and "just turning his life around"..

From the article I am assuming this was thursday nite/friday morning? He was a junior in high school. What was he doing out on a school nite? Where did he get the gun? I'm sure it was legally obtained and he had a license.....(rhetorical questions)

Here's another story with a happy ending:

12:19 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2010

A man accosted by two thieves in the parking lot of a Rockdale County Ingles grocery store on Salem Road Saturday evening responded with a fatal gunshot to the head of one of the suspects, Channel 2 Action News reports.

According to Channel 2, one of the two robbers was armed with a knife, though it's unclear if he was the man shot by Ryan Moore. Rockdale County Sheriff Jeff Wigginton told the station eyewitness accounts match what Moore told deputies, and investigators are still looking for the second man.

Moore's friend Nathan Taylor told Channel 2 that Moore "retaliated in self-defense. Good guy, never violent.”
