A whole bunch of folks sent me this heartwarming tale out of - all places - Illinois.
Customer shoots, kills robber at L.A. TanA would-be robber was shot and killed by a male customer at an L.A. Tan in southwest suburban Orland Park Saturday, according to police.
At 6:36 p.m. Saturday, an employee at the tanning salon called police to report an armed robbery in progress at 15633 S. 94th Avenue, according to a release from Orland Park police.
The employee told police a male customer had wrestled a gun away from the would-be robber and shot the man, the release said.
That's the second account of a robber having his gun taken away and used against him. This only further reinforces that idea that the person is the weapon, the gun is merely the tool used - twice in as many days we've seen folks who were determined to not be victims disarm their assailants and use their own guns against them. There's a lesson there in support of fighting back - and, really, isn't the best way of fighting back to fling some of your own lead in their direction first? (Yes, I understand that this happened in IL, one of only two states remaining that does not permit concealed carry).
Fight back - you've got a better chance than by submitting.Dead Goblin Count: 103That is all.

From the article:
"The male customer, who was not identified, cooperated with police and was released without charges."
YET
This is Illinois. In all likelyhood he will be charged with murder and be going to prison. You are not allowed to defend yourself in this state.
Steve B.
I doubt it.
"Will County sheriff's police are looking closely at a would-be robber killed Saturday as the "honeybee gunman" suspect in an October shooting spree that killed one and wounded two others in Illinois and Indiana, sources told the Tribune."

You keep using those words. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.
Seriously, Jay... stop speading that misinformation. I know, you're thinking IL and WI, where there are NO legal provisions to carry concealed if you're a /peon/ citizen. But you really need to bear in mind that in places like MD and NJ it's all but impossible to get a carry permit unless you're rich or politically connected.
Ross posted it before me. I've been a NJ resident the majority of my life and no one I know, not gun store owners, not the proprietor of one of the nation's largest ammo dealers, not jewelers, no one gets a carry permit in this state.
May issue may as well be 'may issue free beer and hot wings' cuz it ain't gonna' happen.
Hip hip hooray! for the hero, and "ditto" to Ross and Mr. Casey.
