Homeowner kills would-be burglar
HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) - A 70-year-old man called 911 last night and told police someone was breaking into his house. He had a gun, and a short time later he proved he knew how to use it.
Hobbs police say Wallace Roberson, 43, tried to break into a home on the 1100 block of North Denson Street in Hobbs. The homeowner Watson Green, 70, immediately called police, grabbed his handgun and fired a single shot through the back door.
Once again, we see the true face of gun control. Those that would have us turn in our guns would rather a 70 year old man be at the mercy of a career criminal nearly 30 years his junior than have the best tools with which to defend himself. In their warped view of the world, taking firearms out of the hands of a law-abiding retiree is the way to deal with criminals out walking the street two weeks after arrest for violent crimes.
I don't care for their view of the world.
That is all.

This one pings my feeble memory that something may be fishy. I was channel surfing the other evening and heard mention of it as I passed the news, and it didn't come off as favorable when usually the reaction to a dead goblin in NM is "...and the homeowner was given a coupon for Bobs Discount Meat Packing and Blood Removal."
Unfortunately by the time I put the brakes on my thumb and got back to the story, they were talking about some deer stuck in the mud in Iowa. Gotta love local coverage, but this one may be worth a follow-up google.
