Roundgun Round-up

Over at Guns, Holsters and Gear, there's an article on revolvers for concealed carry.

Interestingly enough, while there is a Smith & Wesson wheelgun in the article, it's not the standard J-frame model 637, 36, or 60. Instead, it's the new Bodyguard 38, S&W's answer to the Ruger LCR. Even though the AirWeight series of J-frames is lighter than the Bodyguard, the Bodyguard 38 is new enough and represents a significant departure from the normal S&W line that it was worth mentioning.

Go take a read and see what you think!

That is all.

i like both the Charter and the S&W...i just don't know enough about Charter to really make a decision. a pocketable revolver is next on the list, though.

The folks running Charter Arms are top-notch. I had a chance to talk with Nick Eckers at the NRA convention last year, and they're going the extra mile for those of us trapped in MA. At significant expense to Charter, they've had a bunch of their guns made MA-compliant.

That said, S&W has been selling small revolvers for, well, as long as there have *been* small revolvers.

I own three J-frames currently (one's a .22LR trainer) and carry two of them regularly. For the price, they're hard to beat for reliability and longevity.

the other half intends to get a Charter soon, so it's good to know the folks there are decent people. :) i think i'll just need to get my mitts on a j-frame loaner before i can decide. i've also got ... awhile before i acquire the next pistol.

Good review. Have you shot one of the new Bodyguards yet? Trigger is different from the old J and the cylinder spins backwards

With a good pancake holster, even my S&W M-28 Highway Patrolman conceals nicely under a sweatshirt, or anything heavier.

Strong-side carry, right at the 3 O'clock.

Comfortably, too. Long as you've got a very good belt. And no, it's not my normal carry rig, but it'll do when I want it to.

I'm 5'10, 205 lbs. 36" waist. Size 44 coat, 17-1/2" neck. So, I'm not a stick figure, nor am I Jabba the Hutt. (he was better looking than me, though.)

If a 4 inch, N frame Smith will comfortably conceal with that little effort, how much more so will the smaller ones hideaway?

I do have a couple of J frames that are fine IWB under a tee shirt. 3" M-60-16, and a mid '70s Model 49 Bodyguard.

I like the J frame size, and would like to get one in lightweight form.

But likely not a "snubbie from hell".

Even I have my limits.
