The Anarchangel reminds us that today is the
100th anniversary of the day that John Moses Browning (Peace Be Upon Him) saw his most famous design adopted by the US Armed Forces as their chosen sidearm. To that effect, here's a family portrait of Colt 1911s in the G. armory:
100 years of service and still going strong - and good for 100 more!
That is all.

Then, more than a decade later, JMB keeled over his desk while working on his Latest and Greatest Invention ( the one designed to replace the badly flawed pistol that was forced upon the U.S. Military by a bunch of Neanderthal Generals who hadn't heard a shot fired in anger since they crawled away from their Asswhuping at the Battle of the Greasy Grasses), the Browning High Power!
Let the Flame Wars begin. : )
High what? Never heard of it.
Happy 100th Birthday M1911. May you still be going strong for another 100 years.
I just returned from the range where I put 125 rounds through my Gold Cup. I was gonna stop at 100 rds. but that would be silly.
Think I broke it. Won't lock back on an empty magazine. Off to the gunsmith tomorrow. Guess I'll have to carry my 1911 in .38Super for a while.
Two is one and one is none.
